garbage. This thermometer doesn't have any mercury in it! It's a ten-dollar squandering. Regrettably, we didn't realize until we needed it that it was missing! We're no longer able to go back. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had a similar experience in writing a return. These guys need to improve their product quality and stop taking advantage of people who, understandably, do not test the thermometer they expect to work until they need it!.
This is a thermometer I really like. It reminds me a lot of the ones I used to have as a kid. Yes, getting a reading takes longer, and reading it requires practice, but dang! It will always be available when you require it. There are no batteries to worry about running out, and it will still work if and when the EMP strikes! Despite the fact that it came from a veterinary supply company, it can be used on humans as well. I've only put it to the test by holding it under my tongue for about 3 minutes (sorry. ) I'm not going to try the other restaurant! ) and it says my temperature is 98 degrees. 1 F. The temperature is only displayed in Fahrenheit. br>br>I have to hold it in my right hand by the glass loop and hold it up to a light or a bright window while reading it. Then I slowly turn it until the mercurial bar stands out against the yellow backdrop. The thermometer even has a mark that reads 98 degrees Fahrenheit. I set the temperature to 0 degrees Fahrenheit so that I can quickly determine whether or not the temperature is normal. If you're going to use this thermometer to take the temperature of animals like dogs, sheep, or cows, make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. I'd tie a string through the glass loop just in case it gets misplaced; I used to work for a veterinarian and am familiar with such things. It comes with a hard plastic case that you can attach to your belt or shirt pocket. br>br> When I'm not using the thermometer, I like to keep it safe in the case. I bought two of these because they are glass and thin, making them easy to break. This purchase has made me extremely happy, and the price was extremely reasonable.
There will be no more mediocre and low-cost store thermometers (digital or analog). This is the last one. I took my temperature and had a precise reading in less than a minute. Every time, it easily shakes down. It's not a good idea to throw your arm out. There will be no gradual ascent. There will be no annoying beeps with an incorrect read ten times in a row, each lasting five seconds. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
One was broken when it arrived, just in case.
There will be no refunds. We did not receive the product depicted in the picture. It was, after all, a vintage thermometer. and it's not going to work.
When compared to other established thermometers or a digital thermometer, it was over 3° below the correct temperature.
My mercury thermometer is one of my favorite things in the world. The price was just right, and the shipping was lightning fast, as well as being extremely accurate. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved. Thank you very much.
