It's a puppy toy. As a result, it's a little gentler than adult food. However, it does not crumble when touched.
To figure out how much to feed per day, you need to know your pet's age and estimated adult weight.
The Small Puppy Dry comes in a 2 oz. bag. 5 pounds

And meal. Gluten is another factor to consider. For such poor quality ingredients, it is exorbitantly priced. This was purchased solely for the purpose of gradually weaning my two puppies from it. This is not something I would feed to anyone's dog. Where has all the meat gone? What about the vegetables that are safe to eat? Even if you paid me, I wouldn't keep my dogs here. When I read the ingredients in the puppy kit I received, I was taken aback. This was recommended as a Science diet to me. It's not. Science diet, on the other hand, isn't all that great. I'm going to start feeding my dogs real food. It's no surprise that dogs are dying from kibble poisoning. It doesn't go over well with my puppy.
It was a breeze to switch from the starter type to this one; my puppy adores it, and I can even use it as training treats! br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I bought the larger bag because she likes it so much. But there's a difference. The food appears to be different, despite the fact that the picture says "New look. " I noticed it was darker (see photo of food from a 2 pound and a 13 pound bag combined). br>br>Also, even though I didn't change anything else about her diet, my puppy's stool was VERY soft for the first couple days when I assumed they were the same product. br>br>I used to be able to give it to her as a treat, but now she only eats it when she's starving. I'm not sure what happened.
The Royal Canin puppy food is a great product, but the 13 pound bag has caused me some problems. When I opened the bag, a swarm of flies flew out, and I reported it to Amazon, who promptly sent me a replacement bag with expedited shipping. My dog has had soft stools since he started eating it because it looks different from the food in the small bag. While the ingredients are identical, the large bag has a logo on one of the sides, indicating that it was produced at a different facility where quality control may be an issue. I highly recommend Royal Canin, but I will not be purchasing the large bag again due to reports of similar problems.
I've only been feeding this product twice a day for a few days, but his bowel movements were already plentiful, with one green-colored bowel movement. Color, despite liking the product, was later gagging and vomiting, and he scratched his back all night last night; I'm afraid that if I continue to feed, this expensive food will be thrown out, and I will not recommend it!.
Our vet recommended Royal Canin puppy food, so we've been feeding it to our Jack Russell puppy for almost a year. Until this last bag, she had done a fantastic job on it. I'm not sure what went wrong or if we just got a bad bag, but she started vomiting and having severe diarrhea. We went to the vet and had a stool sample tested because we thought she might have picked up a bug. Because the tests revealed no parasites, we continued to feed her a potato and hamburger diet, and everything was back to normal within a day. We attempted a gradual transition back to Royal Canin puppy food, but the diarrhea reappeared. I'm not sure what's in it, but I'm wondering if the formula has changed or if we received a faulty bag.
Amazon is not a good place to buy things. The dog food I received the first time I ordered was not the same as the dog food I received the second time. My puppy was sick for the second time! Color and odor are completely different):.
My puppy has recently switched to this dog food and seems to enjoy it. His poop is firm and easy to pick up, and he appears to be much more energetic and happy. I've also noticed that now that he's a maltipoo, he doesn't get that awful red stain on his eyes. It also tastes great, so I use it as a training treat.
He didn't seem to enjoy it, and he had terrible gas all of the time. My veterinarian recommended that I switch him to Royal Canin, and what a difference it has made. There will be no more gas. Dry skin bumps are no longer a problem. Plus, he enjoys it, so getting him to eat is no longer a challenge. To get him to slow down, I had to go out and buy one of those feeding bowls with the cone in the middle. I would strongly suggest it.
