I had the same thought as you, but for a different reason. I began feeding this to my dogs three years ago because they were both suffering from severe skin problems, and after switching to Iams, their skin and coats cleared up in a matter of weeks. I noticed that they began chewing themselves again a few months ago, and I hadn't changed anything in their routines (flea meds, food, or environment). When I noticed the food was different colors, I wondered if the formula had changed and the new dye was the source of the problem.
Larger chunks make up the formula for large breeds.
You might want to increase the amount of this formula you feed your dog on a daily basis. You could also, since he's only a year old, switch him back to the puppy formula with higher protein and fat levels for a few months to help him gain weight.
Mars Petcare US, based in Franklin, Tennessee, distributes IAMS dog food. Researchers at Auburn University's Veterinary School came up with the nutritional formula a few years ago. I'm not sure how it's made. On the bag is a phone number to call if you have any questions: 800- 525- 4267

We recently purchased a new bag, which we began feeding to our dog on Sunday. Our dog began having severe diarrhea on Monday morning and has been suffering from it ever since. We didn't take her off the food until yesterday because we didn't know if it was the food. We switched to a different brand of food, and she's starting to warm up. I'm not sure if the batch of Iams dogs was Salmonella or Ecoli contaminated. Our dog was becoming ill as a result of something in it. br>I looked online to see if others were having the same problems as us, and there have been a number of complaints from people who say their dogs are having the same problems. br>I'm not going to buy another bag of Iams dog food because I'm afraid it'll poison our sweet dog. br>I don't usually write reviews, but I figured it might be helpful if someone looked into the problem. I despise the idea of other dogs having to go through what ours has been through this week.
For years, both of our dogs had terrible skin problems, to the point where they were bald from their shoulders to their tails every summer. We knew it wasn't fleas (they were getting monthly treatments from the vet) and were told to change their food after treatment after treatment for their skin. The brand's reputation and price point led us to choose Iams. BOTH of them had stopped itching and biting their fur after ONE MONTH of eating it, and it had started to grow back! They now have lovely, healthy skin and coats after a year! The biggest test came when the weather began to warm up, and it was the first summer in which neither of them chewed themselves bald! Their coats were, and continue to be, stunning, and we owe it all to Iams! I highly recommend this food to anyone whose dog suffers from a skin condition, as it completely transformed our dogs' lives!.
There was a ten-dollar bill at the bottom of it. The mass of molded food and maggots was 12 inches wide. Because the maggots have crawled all over the bag, it must be thrown away.
For the most part, my dogs enjoy this brand, and as large dogs (over 50 pounds), I appreciate how large the "bites" are. Most brands cause me problems because the kibble is too small, which can cause choking (for mouth stuffers) or coughing (for food inhalers) in larger dogs. br>br>My concern is that this product continues to rely on by-products. Yes, I know, harsh language, but there you have it: a product that I absolutely despise. I'd rather my adoring dogs' food contained healthier ingredients than the slop that most Americans are forced to eat (due to a lack of good quality food options). All-inclusive br>br> They all like it, and it's free of wheat and soy. That, I suppose, speaks to IAMS incorp's effort.
Iams is fantastic, and when I switched my dog over to it, he was a huge fan. If you're familiar with GMM, you'll understand why I made the switch. br>It's one of the less expensive brands, but it's reliable and consistent. br>br>After reading other reviews, I discovered that it had made other dogs sick. br>I think it's possible there was a bad batch or an irritating ingredient. br>br>However, the reason I'm writing this is that I believe I'll stick to buying food in stores rather than having it delivered. We had roaches for a short time after we brought the box in. br>br>One was on the box, which I assumed was due to it being outside for a short time, but we've seen others where it's stored. We spray for bugs on a regular basis, so I'm guessing the food is kept in a location where bugs can get on and into the bags. br>br>Because the price online isn't significantly lower than in the store, I'm not bothered to go get it whenever I need it.
The only drawback is that when I attempted to repurchase it, it stated that it was no longer available, but that I could find it through other sellers. I looked around and found that every other seller was selling the same 30 pound bag. Needless to say, I'm going back to Target or Walmart for dog food now that it's nearly twice as much as it was the first time I bought it. As a result, only three stars are given.
We switch dog food brands on a regular basis to see what works best for our dogs. When our Lab and Maltese see that we bought Canidae All Life Stages instead of Canidae All Life Stages (which had been their favorite), they jump for joy. Nonetheless. br>br> Iams. They just don't like it, and I think we're sick of it because every time we buy it, our dogs vomit once a week or more. Although it is reasonably priced, something in this food refuses to stay in our dogs' stomachs.
I'm not sure why I'm getting this because I just finished writing a lengthy review for a survey that asked me about this product, but I'll give it another shot. I feed my dogs and cats IAMS dog and cat food. It's because it's free of harmful dyes and nitrates. Many years ago, my veterinarian recommended it for my lab because he was still getting ear infections. He didn't have another one after I switched him to IAMS. I switched my cat to IAMS Urinary Track food because he was still getting bladder infections from another brand, and he never got another urinary track infection after switching to IAMS. It is an excellent item.
