I don't believe this food will make him fat, and based on my personal experience, now that he has a forever home, he will most likely gain weight because he is cared for and loved. Nutro is a high-quality food that is also healthy for him. Just keep an eye on the labels, as the company was recently purchased by Mars Corp., and the ingredients may have changed. Wishing you the best of luck with your new puppy.

I'm a veterinarian with two wonderful danes (12 and 12). I feed this along with nutro ultra large breed senior to my children (5 and 8 years old). I like the amount of glucosamine and chondroitin in it (though I supplement with more because my dogs are giants and geriatric, and one has had CCL surgery). The ingredients are excellent, and Nutro is a well-known company that bases its diets on sound science.
Roxy suffers from a variety of health problems and finds it difficult to get up and move around. Stoli still runs around like a puppy, and while he's slower to get up, he can and will jump up if necessary. Roxy's coat is dull and she sheds a lot of hair, whereas Stoli's coat is shiny and healthy, even though it is greying. Both live in happy, active homes with lots of love. The only difference between Stoli and Roxy is that Stoli receives Nutro Senior while Roxy does not. It makes a difference what kind of dog food you give your dog. I switched Stoli to a much more expensive, high-quality brand that I had been buying for my two smaller dogs. When I compared the ingredients, they were nearly identical, and this one even had more DGlucosamine (Min. )* Chondroitin Sulfate (Min. 150 mg/kgbr> )* and he fared much better with this diet. My small dogs have also been switched to Nutro. You don't always get what you paid for!.
For over a year, I've had my dog on it. He began to lose interest in it and began to leave food in the bowl, which is extremely unusual for a Golden Retriever. And now, after only a small amount of food, he vomits. br>br>I weaned him off of this food and switched him to something else that he eats completely and doesn't make him sick. I'm not sure if anything has changed with this product, but I won't be giving it to my dog any longer. I informed Amazon, and they assured me that the seller would be notified. I'm aware that bad batches of food do occur from time to time. I don't think it's a bad product in general, but I no longer trust it, and my veterinarian advised me not to give it to my dog.
After a month, my ten-year-old lab developed problems with his anal glands. and-a- a quarter of the food While eating this food, all of her stools turned mushy and yellow. The anal glands were unable to express themselves, causing them to dribble all over the carpets and bedspreads. To cut a long story short, I decided to look up dog foods on the internet and purchased a five-star competitor. It's more expensive, but her stools are back to normal after two weeks, and her anal gland issues have vanished.
I've ordered these 40 pound bags before and never had a problem; however, my most recent order received two 40 pound bags about 6 weeks ago; I just finished the first bag, which was fine; however, when I opened the second bag, all of the dog food was bad and molded; unfortunately, I'm 3-months pregnant. I'm weeks past the return deadline and have no way of getting in touch with Amazon. I don't recommend buying more dog food than you need, and if you do, make sure to open the bags and inspect the dog food before you buy it. I had to throw away one 40-pound bag, which was a waste of money.
I've been feeding this brand to four different dogs for 16 years, and it's always met or exceeded my expectations for an above-average dog food. Before switching to Nutro's lamb and rice for large breed, I was using the regular department store Pedigree brand; however, after switching to Nutro's lamb and rice for large breed, I noticed that Jack's (4-year-old Labrador) coat began to shine and he seemed to have a lot more energy. The best part was that after a year of using the same brand, my vet said he was closer to the target weight for his age (he lost weight) despite eating smaller portions. I adopted him from the local pound when he was two years old, and he lived to be eleven years old. This is a brand that I continue to use and recommend to everyone I meet. If you're thinking about getting a pet, think about adopting from a local animal shelter.
Rico enjoys variety, so I bought Nutro Wholeome Essentials to supplement Nutro Max Large Breed Adult Dog Food with Farm Raised Chicken. I was blown away by his diet and the ingredients he used. This would almost certainly not have occurred if I had never informed him of the vast array of foods available on the planet. Yeah, I'm guilty of occasionally letting him nibble on something, but now that he takes meds every day, I have to hide the meds, which has increased the frequency of "What?" questions. I'm aware that Pill Pockets are available, but I'm looking for a 10-pack of them. The cost of 13 pockets per day adds up quickly. Returning to Wholeome Essentials for a moment, Rico's health seemed to be getting better overall. This isn't meant to be a panacea. all, but I'm a keen observer, and the addition of Essentials has piqued my interest. His energy level has improved, and when he's happy, I'm happy as well. This is something I'll keep getting for Rico, my colossal pet.
Dogs x3 love this stuff. I've tried other good name brands and this is what they want. When put out side by side, they just ignore any other food. That's how I discovered they love it so much. I had their other good name brand and got a small sample bag and put it in a separate bowl and they just stopped eating it and went to this. So I got a big bag and gave them two weeks to see if they liked it as much as the first day. So I tried the same procedure with other foods, and they may try them, but they always return to this food, so who am I to deny them what they want when it's good food?.
