Questions & Answers

Our puppy is currently eating small bites about the size of a pencil eraser. What is the size difference between standard puppy food bites and the larger ones?

The size of the standard puppy food bites is roughly half that of the puppy small bites. There isn't much of a distinction between the two.

This appears to be a boxed product. Is there any plastic on the inside of the box? Is there anyone willing to share a photo? Thanks! ?

It comes in a bag similar to the ones sold in stores. It comes in a large cardboard box wrapped in paper or bubble wrap. There is an inner liner in the bag, I believe. This product has not caused any delivery or packaging issues for me. Jeanne

Veterinarians recommend it
3/5

However, it isn't the healthiest option for your dog in terms of nutrition. To begin, I'd like to state that this food worked well for my dog and that veterinarians recommend it. However, I only gave it three stars because it is not very good for dogs' health. Veterinarians are compelled to recommend it because they are compensated to do so. There are websites that provide information on the best dog foods without regard for who is paying. We were advised by a dog trainer and nutritionist that if the food contains a lot of fillers, grains, and artificial ingredients, it is not good for your dog. This makes sense even when compared to what humans require. That is the flavor of this food. I'm transitioning my daughter to a grain-free, high-quality, filler-free diet.

CRAP CRAAP CRAAP CRAAP CRAAP CRAAP CRAAP This food is a rip-off, in my opinion

Have you noticed the poop in the photo? br>br>NO, that is NOT my dog's poop on this AWFUL FOOD. My 13-week-old puppy was literally pooping liquid seven hours before that picture was taken, having vomited up all of her food for the fourth time this week. She's been eating this food for a month, but it's been three weeks since I've seen a normal poop. Everything had turned to mush. and it took a more dangerous turn last week. br>br>I did a parasite test on her. Checked for the presence of parvovirus. She was cleaned and healthy after two vet visits and $300 in vet bills. Even the veterinarian, however, Probiotics prescribed by a doctor were ineffective in combating the garbage in this kibble. I finally realized that the only good poop she'd had in a week was when I tried to reset her system by switching her to plain chicken and rice. br>br>This morning, I switched her to Farmer's Dog food, which I feed to my adult dog. All-natural food that I've literally tasted just to see how it tastes. (Hint: it's delicious. ) For humans, it's a little bland, but it's still tasty! ) My puppy went from being so sick that she was *moaning* in her sleep to running around like nothing was wrong in less than seven hours. Then she presented us with this poop, which was a little soft but more solid than anything I'd seen in the previous three weeks (aside from the chicken poop). br>br>It's important what our dogs eat. And I'm not sure if this food is simply bad with good marketing, or if this seller is a con artist who mislabeled kibble and replaced it with garbage. In any case, I'm not going back to Science Diet. My dog is transitioning to a more natural diet. br>br>If natural isn't an option for your pet due to financial constraints, I suggest Holistic Select-- Because of the probiotics and prebiotics in that food, it's a good choice for sensitive pups. br>br>Do your puppies a favor and stay away from this garbage.

My veterinarian suggested this food
4/5

My veterinarian suggested this food. It has been a hit with my puppy from the beginning. She gets a nice shiny coat as a result of it. I recently received a bag from Amazon and noticed that the food was different, as well as the fact that the product was much smaller. I sent an email to the company to confirm that this was the correct food, and I got this response. br>br>We appreciate you stopping by HillsPet. com for getting in touch with us about this. br>br>On the Hill's® Science Diet® Puppy Healthy Development Original Dry, there was a recent change. We replaced the kibble with a smaller disc-shaped kibble. br>br>Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us. This food is very popular among puppies
5/5

makes them powerful In addition to my dog, who is now on Science Diet Large Breed, I foster puppies for a local rescue and always feed them this food. They 100% always come to us with very upset stomachs (tmi, but difficult to pick up after them outside) and within 2 or 3 days everything is settled and they begin Every day, their coats become more lustrous and they become healthier. I have yet to meet a puppy who does not enjoy this food. It's also the ideal size for training purposes. Occasionally, a teeny-tiny piece will fall under the couch or somewhere else they can't reach, and I'll catch them frantically trying to retrieve it. This is a dish I strongly suggest.

From regular bowel movements to diarrhoea
3/5

Hills Science puppy small bites were included in the puppy adoption package. Winston, who was a month old at the time, enjoyed his food and had regular bowel movements. So I ordered a new Hills Science Puppy bag with a larger capacity, but without the small bites. There were no differences in the ingredients. br>br>I immediately started Winston on a new bag, and he devoured it. He didn't seem to get along with this new bag. It took a few days, maybe a week, for me to realize that his new gas and mushy poop weren't caused by eating a bug or grass, but rather by the food. He was drinking a lot more water, peeing a lot more, and having a lot of accidents, on top of going from 2 normal poops a day to 8 icky poops. br>br>So he took a break from his little system and ate white rice and boiled chicken for several days, which helped him get back to normal. Now I'm slowly introducing a new high-quality grain brand. After much research, I decided to give him free puppy food and see how he does. So I'm not sure if this new bag was made with a different recipe than his first bag, if the second bag was tainted, or if Winston developed a sensitivity to it. This bag, however, has been discarded.

Excellent food (recommended by a veterinarian)
5/5

We adopted a puppy from the SPCA, and the veterinarian there recommended this food, so we purchased a bag. We went to another veterinarian a few days later, and he recommended this food as well, claiming it to be one of the best. br>We are very pleased with the food; our dog enjoys it, and it appears that it is developing normally. br>Each bag includes a chart that shows how much and how often to feed your dog based on its weight. So you should weigh your dog every week (at least we do) to make sure the amount of food you're giving him is correct. br>When your dog goes to "do his business," the "waste" comes out in a defined shape, so it's not messy or liquid, and the amount isn't too large or smelly, making it easy to pick up. This is due to the fact that the food is made entirely of natural ingredients and contains no dye or preservatives. Dogs can digest the food more easily and get more out of it. br>I apologize for grossing you out, but as a pet owner, you should be aware of these facts. You'll be the one to clean up after the puppy, after all.
