Selected User Reviews For Hill's Science Diet Dry Dog Food, Puppy, Small Paws for Small Breeds, Chicken Meal, Barley & Brown Rice Recipe
Since my older yorkie was a puppy, I've been feeding her Hill Science diet. So it's been a little over four years. We recently adopted a new puppy and began feeding him this science diet, while my other dog continues to eat adult food. I bought new dry dog food for both of them at the same time, and they have both refused to eat it. Especially with the addition of the new puppy. They'd eventually get hungry and eat, but then they'd both get sick and puke. I had no idea what was going on, but it kept happening. Because they had only been in the house and car, the only thing that came to mind was their food. I took them to the vet, and the puppy was given anti-nausea medication as well as additional fluids. I understand that the most recent recall only applies to wet dog food, but I'm afraid to keep them on this diet because they don't like it and throw up. I'll update my review once they've both settled down and started eating new dog food to see if that was the cause. Please exercise caution, especially if you have a small 3pd puppy like me. br>br>**Update*
At the time this happened, we had gotten rid of both bags of dog food. Other issues and health problems associated with liver shunts were present in my puppy. He survived and is doing well after a few surgeries and his life being on the line. He has long-term problems, which have exacerbated his eating problems. My other yorkie had none of these issues, which is why I was skeptical of their food at the time; she later developed pancreatitis and nearly died. Both are doing fine now, but they require different prescription diet foods. We stuck with Science Diet and haven't had any problems since, but we no longer buy it from Amazon and instead get it from the vet clinic with a prescription. My guess is that we got a bad batch, either from Science Diet or from Amazon, which received a fluke of fake counterfeit product, but I honestly don't know. I've updated my rating because science diet is typically a good brand, but you should always be cautious and cautious when shopping online.
My 4-month-old puppy seemed fine with the first small bag; he'd only throw up if he scarfed his food, but that was easily remedied with a slow feeder and some watering down. I got the bigger bag the second time I ordered. He began to vomit nearly every time he ate this food. I stopped giving it to him and instead prepared rice, lean meat, peas, and carrots for him. I also put him on a probiotic because I was concerned he had a sensitive stomach. I recently decided to reintroduce kibble to ensure that he receives all of his vitamins as he matures. I only put a small amount in both times, and he ended up throwing up later on both occasions. It's official: this product's large back is a problem. It's unfortunate that my puppy has been sick so frequently and that I've had to throw away half of a large bag. I won't be purchasing the item again.
My other dog ate Science Diet his entire life, and when he was five, when I insisted on a dental cleaning, the vets would look at his teeth and exclaim, "Wow!" There is no need to clean. What are you giving him to eat? " He lived to be a very old dog before succumbing to a genetic defect. br>br>After some time, I'm happy to have a new puppy to keep me company. I put him on Science Diet for Puppies when he was a puppy. He adores this food and continues to grow rapidly, despite the fact that he is lean and full of energy. He'll be about the same size as his parents. I would strongly advise anyone who wishes for their dog to live a long and healthy life to do so.
My maltipoo's eyes were constantly tearing, leaving very dark red tear stains under each eye as a result of this food. After reading the ingredients, I discovered that it contains a lot of wheat, barley, and other unhealthy ingredients. When I returned my dog to Taste of the Wild, the stains began to fade almost immediately. This food is not a high-quality option for dogs; it is a "science" marketing ploy, as you can see by looking at the ingredients.
We bought this dog food for our new puppy because the breeder recommended it. We should have read the ingredients first, because this dog food is similar to the Nutraloaf that is served to inmates. In comparison to other brands, this food has a lot more garbage and filler. br>br>On the plus side, I liked how easy it was to seal the package, which was more like velcro than a ziplock. It was simple to open and close in a secure manner. That appears to be the only positive aspect of this dog food. This is the dog food for you if you want your dog to feel like he or she is serving time in a prison. Otherwise, do your dog a favor and shop around for other dog foods and read the labels before making a purchase.
I fed her Royal Canin puppy food and intended to continue doing so, but getting my dog to eat was a real challenge. Now, she isn't crazy about this food, but she does eat it! She chews on it as well! br>br>My favorite thing about her is that her poop is firmer than it used to be. I use a potty pad tray, and I no longer have to worry about anything getting on it! br>br>I also appreciate the bag's Velcro closure!.
My dog choked on the kibble several times due to its small size. After two months of use, I noticed that my dog's fur had become extremely dry. I took my dog to the veterinarian, who diagnosed him with dry skin and recommended that I change his food. This food may be excellent for another dog, but it is not suitable for my pet.
He eats without difficulty, his tiny teeth not even a hindrance.
