My dog appears to enjoy it, though I have seen him lick his own butt, so I'm not sure how sensitive his taste buds are.
I bought a 5lb bag of this food at a local petsmart, and my dog loved it, so I bought a 35lb bag as well. The bits appear to be different from the first bag, and they gave my puppy diarrhea. Not good.
Hill's Science Diet Small Bites was first recommended by the vets at the SoCal animal shelter where we adopted our Mini Schnauzer, and now both of our small dogs eat it. When I later took both of my dogs to a reputable veterinarian - with a 50-year track record of success - He smiled and said, "It's the best," when they told him they were on Hills Science Diet for their shots. (This was confirmed by a second veterinarian. ) They drink 1/2 cup of tea twice a day. We don't feed them fatty table scraps, so both dogs are the right weight for their ages and have no excess fat. br>For our older Mini Poodle, we combine his total water ration with his Hills Science Diet. 2 tablespoons of water mixed with his food is also a favorite of the Mini Schnauzer. Hill's dog food contains natural oils that make your dog's coat soft, shiny, and healthy. br>My only gripe is that Amazon's price fluctuates between $40 and $48 on different days.
Because it comes from Science Diet, this food is obviously of high quality, and my corgi girl loved it. I believe the kibble's size made it easier for her to eat, and the flavor must also have been appealing. Having said that, I'm not sure I fully comprehended the description. My baby is getting on in years, and I thought it was food to "keep her active," but I think it's for dogs who are already very active. She had been on a diet and had pretty much reached her goal, so I switched her to this from the diet dog food. I gave her the recommended amount of food, but she gained two and a half pounds in six months! That's a lot for a 28-pound dog! Because corgis are prone to back problems and arthritis as they age, she couldn't afford to gain weight, so I had to get her back on her diet. If your dog isn't as active as it once was, but otherwise appears to be in good health, keep an eye on his weight. liked and put up with!.
To give you some context, I have two dogs, one of whom is a picky eater and the other of whom will eat almost anything. The picky eater has also had stomach problems in the past. After months of searching and rotating our dog foods, we decided to try Hills Science Diet wet food, which our veterinarian recommended. We've been ordering this product for the past three years, and both of our dogs can't seem to get enough of it. The picky eater has never been sick, and she still eats her dog food! They are both in excellent health, and the amount we order will last approximately two months. As a result, it's ideal for utilizing Amazon's subscription service.
For small dogs, this is an excellent food option. My 12 pound dog requires very small kibbles. This week, he had a $300 dental cleaning with sealant under anesthesia, and my vet attributed Henry's need for fewer cleanings to these teeth cleaners. Yes. I have VCA Nationwide Pet Ins at 90% coverage, for what the vet hospital actually charges, not what is "acceptable" in my community. They move quickly and never engage in combat with me. Hey, if keeping those wonderful rescue dogs, who have already suffered enough abuse in their lives, isn't insane, then we aren't good enough to have them. With the large, hard kibbles, the little dogs' teeth can easily be broken. Now all I have to do is give in and allow my 33-pound rescue dog to sneak in and eat everything she can because this is so delicious. Also, according to the pet insurance policy, if the veterinarian prescribes a dog food or supplements to address a health issue that the dog is experiencing, the policy will cover the cost of the special food, such as the Hill Science Diet for Diabetes. That was just something I noticed. I need to contact the insurance company and follow up with people who purchase Hills Science Diet products.
It's a hit with her! Even though my dog's name isn't Mikey, she adores Hill's Science Diet Dry Dog Food, Adult, Small Bites, Chicken. My dog, like Mikey, is a picky eater, so I made a barley recipe for him. We've tried almost every major brand of dry and wet dog food on the market, and our pup has grown tired of them all. Our pet's favorite food is the Hill's Science mix. I can't comment on the taste, but the fact that my bowels are empty speaks for itself. The mixture smells good, and the 15-pound bag appears to be a good value. Several reviewers have mentioned a recall, as well as the fact that this brand has made their pet sick. I've been keeping a close eye on our dog and haven't noticed any symptoms of illness. There have been no recalls of this product in the last year, as far as I'm aware. When we adopted our dog from a local shelter, we were told to feed him Hill's Science Diet because it was the shelter's preferred dog food. I only wish I had paid attention to that advice sooner!.
As a veterinarian, I trust Hills because I am well-versed in nutritional science, which extends far beyond the Guaranteed Analysis listed on the package. Regardless of the geriatric issue that my pets face as they age, they tend to live for a long time. I credit good nutrition for a lot of that. I don't only give Hill's to my pets because I like to give them a variety of foods. However, the majority of the land is occupied by Hills. My terrier x corgi mix and my chihuahua x beagle have both responded positively to Adult Small Bites. One of them is practically inhaling food, while the other's trachea is collapsing. Both of them have a tendency to choke on larger kibble. The smaller kibble size is ideal because neither of them will take the time to chew the larger pieces. Many of the pets on Hills have had excellent coats, longevity, and overall health. There are other good foods out there, but few with consistent ingredient quality and laboratory analyses that match the guaranteed analysis on the package (which is not required by law). As a professional and a pet owner, I'm a fan.
