This was purchased for my Great Pyrenees dogs, who enjoy blowing through our electric fence and bolting. I'd been driving around for hours with no idea where they were, so I needed a way to keep track of them. I purchased this with the expectation of receiving two trackers; however, there is only one tracker and one remote that must be kept near the phone in order to track the actual device, which can be a pain in the neck when trying to quickly leave to find them. When I just want to check in on the dogs from my phone and the remote is inside the house, remembering to grab the remote has been difficult at times and frustrating at others. I've also had the remote say it wasn't synced a few times, which cost me time as the dogs got closer. I like the idea of keeping a history of where your dog walks and sleeps on the property; it's interesting to see where they've walked and slept. Overall, it appears to be a good product, with the exception of the battery life, which is a bit disappointing. If I put the tracker on the collar before going to bed, it will be nearly dead when I wake up, defeating the purpose. I wish there was something that I didn't have to take off and recharge all of the time. He seems to know when I take it off, and then he drives away, leaving me frustrated and back to driving around aimlessly hoping to catch sight. It's a great idea, but the battery could be better.
Although the setup was a little confusing at first, it now works flawlessly. I could always see where Harley was in my and the neighbors' pastures while feeding horses in the barn. Bonus: When I pressed the sound button, she came to a halt, returned her gaze to the transmitter, and then began searching for me. It will only take three or four events to teach her to come to me when she hears something. Thank you for making such a fantastic product!br>ADDED IN JANUARY: Yes, Harley learned to come to me, wherever I was, as soon as she heard the transmitter tune play, within a few days. I don't have to worry about where she is on my 13 acres, or whether my voice will carry, or whether calling for her will bother any neighbors. This is a fantastic item.
Well, it's pleasant enough, but perhaps I had high expectations. Because the map does not rotate automatically (and does not use your existing "Google Maps" or other map app), you must manually orient yourself to the map. To put it another way, you should know which way you're facing (it's easier if you know which way you're facing). Before you can find your pet, you'll need to use street, river, or major landmarks as markers. br>br>"RADAR Mode" allows you to communicate directly with your pet's unit. This means no GPS, which is convenient if you don't have access to the service, but has a much shorter range than expected. When you and your pet are in "RADAR Range," the distance between you and your pet is displayed, but not the direction in which your pet is facing! This feature doesn't appear to be well-thought-out. Before it was released, I read it all the way through! This means you have a certain amount of space, but you must play the children's game "Hot-Tub-Tub-Tub-Tub-Tub-Tub-Tub-T Find your pet in this "cold" game! If you search in one direction and the distance between you and your pet grows, you're either looking in the wrong direction or your pet is getting closer to you. There is no distinction between the two in this feature. br>br>It would be far more helpful if "RADAR Mode" also displayed the direction. For example, suppose you were in the center of your screen and rotated until your pet's signal was at the top. You'd know which way to go based on this information. The "Map mode" suffers from the same flaw, but as previously stated, landmarks can be used to help you find your bearings. All-inclusive br>br> I give it a 60% rating ( a “D”) to all: a”C” is better than nothing in the forest and a 75% rating in town (a”C”). br>br>In terms of tech support, I was unable to register mine because it would not recognize my email address; tech support has not (and it appears will not) contacted me to correct this; however, I do receive emailed promotions (so my email address is good enough for that)! br>br>For the price and the lack of monthly fees, I would consider this product to be adequate.
It's for my cat, so I got it. This is the best one I found after looking around, and I'm happy with it.
It works! The batteries typically last a full day and charge in about 2 hours, but I believe the battery could be improved to last several days. br>br>It's not too difficult to use. To find your pet, you'll need good mapping and the ability to quickly switch modes. If it saves your pet, it's well worth the money! 3rd of September, 2021: UPDATEbr>Even after cleaning the contacts on both the charger and the controller, my Petfon controller will not charge. NO LUCK. MY PETFON is completely free of any harmful substances. Now you can use it! If this isn't fixed soon, I'd advise you to stay away from this product because it doesn't last long.
Such a letdown. After being out of commission for two weeks, the box was finally delivered. We had recently relocated and were eager to give them to our pets, so we were eager to give them a try. The shipping box was fine, but the product box was broken open, had cut marks, and couldn't be closed properly. The ID tags on the inside were much larger than expected, and one was completely scratched. We placed an order for a replacement, which will take another two weeks to arrive.
This product has done a fantastic job so far. My Vizla enjoys exploring our property, and I am always aware of her whereabouts. It's helped me teach her about boundaries, and I've had to go get her a couple of times because of it. I would have gone insane with worry if it hadn't been for this tracker. The battery lasts approximately 8 hours and recharges quickly.
So far, our dog's location in the woods has been easy to determine based on two uses. Although the sound function could be louder, we were able to get the dog to stop what she was doing and pay attention when we called her back.
