Questions & Answers

Will this tag pair with the old loc8tor credit card receiver and function properly?

I'm not sure because my old loc8ter broke and I had to buy a new one with new tags. To be honest, I preferred the old style.

I bought this product without realizing that I needed to buy a loc8tor handheld as well. Is it possible to purchase just the handheld without the additional homing tabs?

I'm not sure, but I've never seen it on its own for sale. Because the tags do break down from time to time, having extras is a good idea. You can use one on anything besides your pet. Keys, purse, and even the remote control for the television are all items that can be misplaced.

Is there any loc8tor that this will work with? My loc8tor came with two homing tabs, but I'd like to purchase a few more to use with it. ?

This is the growth you've been looking for. The loc8tor homing device has two extra open frequencies for precisely one or two of these expansion tabs, so pairing this tracker to the other kit with the loc8tor homing device is a breeze.

What is the procedure for replacing the battery in the black homing device?

Long story with a satisfying conclusion - It's extremely unlikely that you'll be able to install a new battery with the cover and seal in place. Following the purchase of a large number of these brain-damaging devices, I finally got Loc8tor to fix the problem with dead designed tabs that would die out after two or three battery changes. First, I attempted to persuade them to adopt the much more intelligent tab design used by "Tiles." Take a look at Amazon's Tile Finder. With a blindfold on, you can change the battery. After ten years of complaining to Loc8to's arrogant staff and hearing nothing, I realized they just didn't have it in them to design a normal tab with a normal battery compartment that a normal person could replace. Replace the battery at least once, if possible. Laugh out loud!

Not Ready For Primetime: I could have given this one tag five stars, but the larger story deserves a much lower score
3/5

As a result, one star is awarded. br>br>For my two cats, I originally purchased a set that included a receiver and two tags. The tags' batteries were quickly depleted after only one day of use. Then, after a few days, one of the tags stopped working completely. I placed an order for a new tag, and the shipper delivered it quickly. The second original tag eventually stopped working after a few days. I contacted the manufacturer, and they were very helpful in providing advice and sending me a new tag. Everything was fine for about five days, until the manufacturer's tag stopped working. It was not resolved with the installation of a new battery, followed by another. I left it open in my house for a few weeks, then replaced the battery, which worked for a while, but the battery died the next day, and that's how that tag now works. Every day, a new battery is added to the collection. I ordered the silicone cases because I was concerned that moisture was getting into the tags (I live in a rainy area). I have yet to receive them. br>br>Recapping: br>br>Recapping: br>br>Recapping: All of the batteries in the units only lasted a few hours before needing to be replaced. The handheld receiver has been functioning properly for four months after receiving new batteries. In just a few days, both of the original tags failed completely. My replacement tag, which I purchased nearly two months ago, is in perfect working order. It's still running on the new battery I put in. The replacement tag that the manufacturer sent works, but it needs to be recharged every day. br>br>This product is a fantastic concept. It's a lot easier to find the cats this way. However, in order for it to be truly useful. Keep your money in your pocket, based on my experience!br>br>It has to actually work, every time, all of the time!br>br> Better engineering is required for this product. It is not yet ready to be sold on the open market. Is anyone listening, Loc8tor/TabCat?.

To borrow a phrase from Sylvester the Cat "Ridiculousthththththtttttttttttttttttttttttt The battery issue that plagued my previous Loc8tor kit was replicated here
3/5

Look at this. br>br> The functionality is excellent, and the price is reasonable, but the included battery only lasted about 48 hours before it began to signal low voltage. It wasn't a big deal because I had prepared for this eventuality by stocking up on batteries. Nonetheless. br>br> THE MUDDY FOYER DOESN'T WANT TO STAY SNAPPED BACK TOGETHER ONCE YOU POP THE TAB OPEN TO CHANGE BATTERIES. It's ludicrous! The low-cost-of-living-situation is ridiculous! o Batteries FORCE you to open the tab, and while it SEEMS to snap back together (I hear it snap), I find the battery on the floor and notice the tab has popped apart again after a few days. br>br>The same thing happened to me when I was two years old. tab Loc8Ttor kit, but those tabs had a small rubber pocket with a slot to keep the tab from falling off the pet collar. The rubber pocket holds the tab together and allows it to function properly. THIS SINGLE TAB DOES NOT HAVE A RUBBER POCKET FOR THAT PURPOSE, and I'm unable to locate one. There is a lot of discussion about the product in the reviews, but there is no functional link to the rubber collar pockets. Rubber collar pockets to make up for the crappy-looking shirt. I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO OPEN THESE THINGS IF NOT FOR THE RIDICULOUSLY CRAPPY BATTERIES IN THEM! poor quality of the tabs THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO OPEN IF NOT FOR THE RIDICULOUSLY CRAPPY BATTERIES IN THESE THINGS! br>br>To keep the unit closed, I had to wrap it in a frickin' rubberband.

This product has exceeded my expectations! We have a cat that we let out every now and then
5/5

This product has exceeded my expectations! We have a cat who we let out during the day but bring in at dusk and lock his doggie door until the sun shines again in the morning. To keep him safe from coyotes, we've used this strategy. Obviously, it isn't ideal, but he was used to living outside when we adopted him, and he nearly tore our house apart to get back outside, so this is our compromise. The Tabcat is AMAZING. We can now easily locate him if he does not arrive before dark. We were able to find him twice in the garage of our next-door neighbor. He'd sneaked in as they were returning home from work, and they had no idea he'd gotten himself locked up. We use it to track him down inside our house on occasion. The Tabcat is a fan favorite of ours. It has saved us a great deal of time and trouble!.

This is a love-hate relationship
3/5

I used these cat tabs to keep track of my non-cats. Cat loc8tor has been around for a long time. I've replaced the tabs (they break) more than I'd like to admit since I've had the device. They work well when they are working, but they die quickly when they are not working. They can become intermittent at times. Other times, the batteries run out quickly, or the mechanism that holds the tabs tightly together breaks down. After I replace the batteries, I use heavy duty tape to keep them together. I have two money clips mounted on one money clip for reliability and redundancy. It gives me a sense of security. br>br>I adore the idea and employ it frequently. However, batteries and new tabs should be replaced on a regular basis.

- br>By the way, if you need a new battery, this is what you should do. br>A long story with a satisfying conclusion - It's extremely unlikely that you'll be able to install a new battery with the cover and seal in place. This is an excellent suggestion
3/5

This is of poor quality! I contacted this company via email regarding faulty tags. Batteries were replaced, and I attempted re-pairing with a different tag purchased with my own money because the company refused to replace the other one, instead telling me to try everything I had already tried. It claims to track up to 400 feet, but it only gets about 50 feet from my front door to the street. The receiver kept malfunctioning and beeping all over the place, refusing to respond, so it didn't help me find my cat at all. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product because it is of poor quality and has a great idea.
