The size of these raincoats is ridiculously small. For my small Am Staff, I bought a size med. It was perfect for my PomChi, who weighed in at 11 pounds. Its circumference is 20 inches, and its length is 12 inches. Neck length: 14 1/2" It serves no purpose for me. Because the Basset is so long, that will be a difficult fit. Make sure you measure the length from your neck to your back for adequate coverage. The rain slicker is nice, but the normal sizing makes it unfit for purpose. I would order a large for my Am Staff if I were to order again, so I hope that helps you make your decision. Take a look at the x-ray machine. large/xx- To see if it's a good fit, take some big measurements. Take a look at all three measurements: L-, M-, and S-. On the pomchi, it looks cute, but it's a little too big. I tried it and it kept him dry, but he was soaked through and through.
My five small dogs weigh between nine and twenty-one pounds. The small was way too big for the 9, the medium was fine for the rest of them, but the 21 lb was too short in the tail length. I ordered a large for my 21st birthday, and it was enormous! I ended up changing the small slicker to fit the 9 and the large slicker to fit the 21. If your pet is on the larger side of a size range, I recommend ordering the next larger size; after all, what good is a slicker if it doesn't cover your pet's back? The material and quality appeal to me. The sizing, on the other hand, can be challenging. The measurements are for the pet's length and girth, not the number of pounds. I hope this has been of assistance.
The coat measures 13" long from the hood's base to the hem. The hood measures 9 inches in length. This is a Medium size.
I took a measurement from the base of the neck all the way down the back to about an inch from the tail's base. The girth was off, and you'd have to take a measurement around your dog's middle section. It's where the middle stripe is in the picture if you look closely.

I went with a Medium because of his size and the fact that it has Velcro across the chest and stomach. Also, fantastic content! This is a fantastic deal. It comes highly recommended from me.
The raincoat is cute and of good quality, but the sizing is incorrect. Our puppy weighs about 11 pounds and is about 13 inches long from shoulder to tail. We went with the small because the description said it would be 10"-wide. 14". When the raincoat arrived, it fit our puppy in width but was too short in length, ending a few inches above the base of the tail. The raincoat was only 9" long from the base of the hood to the end. The rain coat was pulled up close to the middle of our dog's body when we put the hood on her. If your dog is on the border between sizes, you should definitely go up a size because the raincoat runs small. We exchanged it for a medium, which now fits our dog perfectly in terms of length, but when the hood is pulled up, the front of the rain coat drags a little near her feet when she walks. The raincoat does not ride up to the front when the hood is removed. She is approximately 9" tall when measured from shoulder blade to toes. For reference, I've included photos of my dog wearing a medium raincoat.
My goldendoodle weighs 40 pounds and has a body length of 23 inches and a chest circumference of 25 inches. He looks great in a size XL. When the hood is on his head, the coat can cover his entire body. This raincoat is a hit with both of us. I'll post three photos of my dog wearing his raincoat so you can see how it looks on him.
I'm a big fan of raincoats like these. I placed a total of three orders. They're durable, adorable, and keep my dogs dry. Other flimsy raincoats I've bought have failed to keep my dogs dry. These have made me very happy. The little hoods are also adorable. The raincoats are there so that all I have to do when they return from their walk is dry their feet. These tough little coats are fantastic. My furry kids seem to enjoy them, and they don't slide around. Amazing value for a fantastic product!.
I just received this; when I ordered it, the only size options were medium and large. I chose the large size. My dog is a beagle mix who stands 16" tall at the shoulders and weighs 35 pounds. She can't use this because it's too small. Her butt is exposed if I try to pull the hood up on her. The hood, even when pulled up, appears to be a little too narrow. Nonetheless, I think it's cute, and it'll keep her mostly dry, even though I'll probably expose the majority of her head. When we get home, it's the part of her body she shakes that sprays water everywhere! Regardless, here's the size chart for those who want exact measurements:br>br>Measure your dog from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. However, I believe that with the hood up, she will still be able to keep some of her head dry. I'll try to upload a few photos of Jessie wearing her raincoat.
I'm ready to put this coat to use as soon as there's a hint of rain. Because it's difficult to attach a leash from underneath the coat, I ended up wearing my dog's harness over it. The sizing is adequate, with the back length, hood, and front paws all providing adequate coverage. Although the back length could be a little longer to cover his tushie, it isn't a deal breaker. It works despite the fact that the girth is almost too big. My little guy lifts his left leg to pee, action shot included, and there appears to be sufficient clearance. Because I live in the Bay Area, we've only had a light sprinkle of rain. Even so, the legs and belly of your dog will be drenched. It's the same as having human legs exposed beneath a raincoat.
- UPDATE- br>El Nino has arrived in the Bay Area, bringing with it a significant amount of rain. After our walk, I need to clean my dog, as cute as he is. His head and back torso are drenched, and his stomach is filthy from the puddle splashes. The hood can't go over his head because he won't be able to see, and the slicker won't help him stay dry because his torso and paws are exposed and will get wet. It works in a light sprinkle, but anything more than that will leave your dog drenched to dripping wet. The cuteness factor, on the other hand, is absurd. Please find the video below.
You must measure your dog's length as shown in the size chart photo; I did so, and the two products I received were perfect for him. br>br>I especially like how this one fits over the warmer jacket I got her, but doesn't hang too loose when it's not cold outside, just rainy, and I don't want to wear both a coat and a rain slicker. If your dog is boxier/chubbier, the extra girth allowed on this thinner slicker will come in handy because the velcro on other FP coats doesn't leave much room for my rather slender dog to meet. However, it's clear that this one was made to be worn under their other coats. br>br>Because we haven't had any rain yet, I can't say how it will fare in the rain. If the performance is anything less than perfect, I'll update this review, but based on the material it's made of and other reviewers' comments, I don't expect any issues. PVC is a water resistant material.
