I hung the clothes to dry. Low-to-medium heat is suggested.
My dog is 80 pounds and has the same back size as me, so I ordered LG. It was a tad sloppy, but it worked for him.
The elastic is wrapped around the dog's legs to prevent it from slipping to one side or getting caught on something as they run around.

I looked at about three other coats from different brands and did a lot of research. I couldn't afford a $120 jacket and needed something that would fit a Doberman's frame comfortably and cover her underbelly to keep her warm and comfortable while outside. THIS JACKET EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! YAY! I BOUGHT THE 4XL AND AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT. The coat is tailored to her shoulders and girth and is extremely comfortable for her (one of the few jackets she hasn't tried to rip off and even requested that I put it on her before she went outside in the snow). The jacket is heavy enough, thanks to the fleece lining, to keep her warm in the winter snow, but it's also light enough to keep her warm in the fall and spring. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product to anyone who has a Doberman puppy who wants to keep him warm and dry.
The dog has a pleasant temperature. The jacket is a perfect fit. It has a fleece lining, which I really like. We live in Wisconsin, where the weather is becoming increasingly windy, rainy, and snowy. For the past month or so, I've been looking for a jacket and have settled on this one. I own a 100-pound European Doberman. We went with a 5XL because he's a big guy, and the jacket is perfect for him.
Waterproof is not an option. For my 40-pound girl, I ordered a 2XL. She's a little chesty, but otherwise she has a pleasant odor. She enjoys wearing clothes, but she doesn't particularly care for this sweater, so we don't wear it very often. It's only marginally waterproof, and a wet line quickly forms down the back seam. For the most part, she stays dry underneath, but the sweater itself is soaked through and through. Because the hole in the leash clip does not line up with the hole in her harness, this part is a little challenging. Also, if your dog has its tail up, it may fold back over itself, as shown in the photo. Overall, this is a good sweater for chilly weather, but it is not a rain or snow jacket.
This is something I bought for my dog to wear when it rains. I don't want him to catch a cold because he despises getting wet. This is great because it doesn't restrict his movement and stays put even when he's running around. It even has a hole on top for his leash to go through to connect to his harness underneath.

My German Shorthaired Pointer is a medium-sized dog, but I ordered an XL for him. It is a little tight on her because she weighs 50 pounds and this breed has a deep chest, but it has velcro closure. The right amount of stretch in the right places ensures a perfect fit! I read another reviewer's complaint about it being fragile and easy to tear, and that reviewer mentioned other dogs jumping and pawing on the dog wearing the coat, as well as how easily it could tear, and my response is that if a dog is romping around, it probably doesn't need to be wearing a coat, and next time maybe use your head before you write a bad review on a great product due to your own stupidity. I've had canvas raincoats for her before, and while they could withstand a badger attack or a maniac dog pawing at her, they get soaked, whereas this repels the rain. I'm interested in seeing what else they have to offer.
