Questions & Answers

Could someone please give me the specifications for these? It would be especially useful to know the outside diameter. ?

Outside, a 3 inch hole will be drilled and wedge screws will be used to secure the pole in place.

Why is it that the ladder does not require bonding to the pool bonding harness?

The four pieces were installed by my installer. holders who were unable to leave. The escutcheons were installed after the escutcheons were installed correctly, and then the rail was installed. They were made to go together. Because I have a disability, my handrail has made it so much easier to enter and exit my pool. I also put the blue cover over it to keep my hands cool while holding the rail. I hope you find this information useful.

Are these made of 304 stainless steel?

I have a salt water pool and have had these for several years without any discoloration or tarnishing. I'd say they're made of 304 stainless steel!

Can you tell me how tall (deep) these are on the inside?

I don't have mine with me right now, but I believe it's deeper than the pictures suggest. I bought them to put in a bathroom, but they were too deep for the job. It appears to have been a half-hearted attempt. 3/4"

Perfect - If you've read this far, you'll know what I'm talking about
5/5

These things are PRECISELY milled, as some have pointed out. You will have trouble getting your ladder rails on if they are distorted. Before attempting installation, make sure your ladder rails are free of dents, defects, and other flaws. I also recommend using a dab of silicone gasket sealer as a lubricant when putting them on. Remember that when you tighten the relatively light aluminum ladder into the solid copper holding device, you use pressure to tighten it, which causes minor distortion. I had one rail that was distorted to the point where I couldn't get it straightened enough to get this on, so I used a Dremel tool with a round sanding disk to make a pass or two around the interior of this ring and it worked perfectly. DO NOT FORCE THEM, THEY WILL BEND. Yes, they're made of stainless steel, but because it's so thin, you can't hammer away at it. Your pool guy simply did a poor job, according to the reviews that they do not fit flush to concrete. Use an angle grinder and a cement disk to remove the bump from the concrete, which SHOULD be flush if the pool installer did it correctly the first time, and then leave them on. I don't think it's necessary to remove them; just be careful not to bend the escutcheons when storing them. You could certainly remove the ones that are simple to put on and take off. I, for one, am looking forward to no longer having to deal with corroded, "chrome" coated plastic or unsightly white escutcheons. I don't think I'll ever have to deal with another one of these.

They match the side of the ladder handles EXACTLY - not good
3/5

I had to devote approximately 15 minutes to this task. Because the openings wouldn't fit over the ladder handles, I spent 20 minutes with a Dremmel enlarging them. They were machined to be exactly the same size, but they needed to be a fraction of an inch larger to slip on. They are metal, however, and will not peel like my old plastic ones.

Before placing an order, determine the size of your pool ladder
5/5

When installing an aftermarket swimming pool ladder, you must drill into the concrete and insert your ladder; however, the hole you drill may not look presentable afterward, so these apps go over the hole and make it look better, thank you Richard.

The quality and grade of stainless steel are dubious
3/5

These look a lot nicer than the plastic escutcheons, but I'm not sure they'll last as long. These have only been in my possession for about a year. They've been through one summer, fall, and winter, and they've already developed discoloration that cleaning and polishing haven't been able to remove. They're used above the water line, so no pool chemicals come into contact with them. If just the normal outside elements are causing the finish to fail within the relatively short time that I have had them, I would be concerned about using them underwater. Furthermore, the inside diameter is a little small, making it very difficult to get on. They're also made of thin gauged metal, which means they'll bend easily if you use too much force when putting them on.

It's a flimsy, small device
3/5

They get the job done, but not particularly well. The material is very thin and flimsy. Also, it's not big enough to cover all of my in-house expenses. anchors for the decks I'd recommend spending a little more money for something a little more durable; it was probably my fault for not checking the outer radius.

Rails are not recommended because the hole is too small
3/5

The product is well-made, but the hole is too small to accommodate the rails that come with it. So I'm not sure if I should give this unit a low rating or disregard the recommendations.

a little too tight It was made to fit my ladder size, but as other reviewers have mentioned, ladders can become slightly warped over time due to tightening
3/5

These are designed to fit snugly over the ladders, and mine didn't due to warping. To make the pieces fit, I had to grind them down a little. Simply increasing the amount of space available for this possibility would result in a better product and happier customers.
