The led light is to blame for this. Water does not get into the battery compartment because of the black rubber around the led light's screw. It is gradually broken down by the chemicals. When you're finished, don't forget to turn off the spa's led light. When you're not using it, leave it out.
They appear to only be held in one's hand. The handles are all one piece and do not open so that a handle can be attached!

We bought this to keep our five-person hot tub clean. The scrubber and brush are both useful and effective, but the skimmer net is not sheer enough to catch many of the particles that enter our tub, rendering it nearly useless. We ended up using a pond net with much finer netting to replace it.
So the other items are fine; they're nice, but I'm not sure how much I'll use them. I was most looking forward to using the net for small bits that didn't get cleaned by the filter and needed to be scooped out instead. With chemical and one of those little bug sponges (that collects oils), I was most looking forward to using the net for small bits that didn't get cleaned by the filter but needed to be scooped out instead. So this net has a very loose weave, which means it picks up large items but not small dirt particles. Just keep in mind that if you already own an Intex hot tub, this may not be the best purchase.
The netting is far too large to remove small debris from the spa. I eventually purchased a pool skimmer with fine mesh that performs far better. Brushes are fine, but those can be found for a lot less money. I would not recommend this product in any way. Spend your money wisely and get a pool skimmer.
So, these are my favorite brushes. I use it to clean the tub and lid of my spa all the time, but I despise the net. The holes in the net are far too large, and because it functions like a scoop, it can be difficult to get everything out unless you turn it inside out and shake it. The handle is also quite small, which I initially thought was fine, but it is not if you want to net it outside of the spa. I still recommend the brushes if for no other reason.
These are only passable. A LONGER HANDLE CANNOT BE ATTACHED TO THEM. Expect to have to get inside your hot tub for a lot more than just cleaning the waterline; so far, a Mr Clean sponge for cleaning and a "scum bug" floating around in my spa have made the biggest difference. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out how to add a longer handle to these; best of luck!.
For the price, this is a good set of items, with the sponge being the most useful tool. Without scratching the tub's vinyl, it removes stains and dirt. The net is adequate; however, the netting holes are too large, causing the net to lose smaller leaf particles, so it was docked a couple of stars. A small aquairum fishnet, in my opinion, does a better job. It's a good brush.
This was primarily purchased for the purpose of skimming debris from the water's surface. As expected, everything was clean and new. As I try to keep our new portable hottub clean, everything appears to be of good quality and has been working well. It's something I'd recommend for your Intex portable spa (I haven't tried anything else, but I'm glad I did).
Keep your clarity lovely! It's definitely worth the money, and it helps keep funky PH in your TUB, lol.
