Questions & Answers

Is this going to work for skimmer and coping cracks?

Yes, I used it for that, and the seal is still intact after a year.

Will this work on cracks in an inground pool's concrete?

I haven't used it for that, but many others have. It's been used to fill cracks in pools and even below the water's surface.

Is it possible to make blue putty out of putty?

I'm not sure about the dye, but it could change the epoxy's chemistry. I used the putty to patch cracks in a decorative concrete pond. After that, I used rubber-based light blue paint to repaint the entire pond. The issue has been resolved.

A piece of ceramic must be glued to concrete. Is this something that can be used to stick things together?

Yes. It's the tile we use in our pool.

This fulfilled all of my expectations
5/5

Our concrete surface pool had worn down in a few places, and the rebar framing was beginning to rust. We just moved into this house in July, so we're hoping to avoid having to resurface the entire pool. The rust spots are not only unsightly, but I was concerned that the surrounding areas would deteriorate even more. br>br>At first, I looked into patching and underwater epoxy paint, but I couldn't find a small can for less than $100, and a large can was more than $100. When I came across this product, I decided to take a chance and try it out. Unless you've done this before and are familiar with the product, you should read the instructions before starting; you'll need to take equal amounts from both tubes and thoroughly mash and mix them together to work correctly. Because the tubes are cardboard, you can cut off a similar amount from each, but I just scooped out similar amounts with a small metal craft spatula to see how it worked first. If you're going to use the scoop method, make sure to cut the tubes down as needed, as you don't want any extra air in there when you're recapping. br>br>The product in each tube is a slightly different color, which makes it easier to see when they've been thoroughly mixed. When you're ready to use the putty, there should be no color swirls visible. My pool's surface is slightly blue, so it should be a single, uniform color that's kind of an off white. When I first applied the putty, it appeared to be very white in comparison to the rest of the surface, so I read another review and discovered that someone else had colored their putty with food coloring. I gave it a shot and it worked perfectly. I was able to get my putty to resemble the color of the pool surface. It's not a perfect match, but it's a lot better than the rust spots or the bright white. br>br>Because some of my areas were quite deep, I applied the product in layers, sometimes waiting a day or two between each layer. I used a brass brush to remove any debris before applying the product. I started firmly smearing a small amount of putty into the areas one at a time, making sure to get it into any and all crevices. It took a few days for it to cure completely, but I had no issues with it not hardening. I'm optimistic that this will extend the life of our pool's surface for a long time, and I would highly recommend it.

I assisted in the repair of a skimmer leak - It is simple to use
5/5

This product assisted me in repairing a skimmer leak on my own. One of my skimmers had dislodged itself from the concrete and was dripping water. A silicone caulk-like material had been used by the previous owner to seal it - However, it was disintegrating and floating around in the skimmer. As a result, I made the decision to do everything correctly. I removed all of the old silicone and used a dye kit (a syringe with prefilled dye) to pinpoint the exact leak location. Then I sealed the leak with pool putty. It was simple to use and put into practice. The best part was that I could use it below the surface of the water - As a result, no water is lost during the draining process. It took about 4 hours for the product to cure (it was hard to touch). I retested with the dye to make sure the water wasn't leaking any longer. The repair was successful, and my water level is now stable (with the exception of the acceptable level of evaporation). My local pool service charges $120 for each visit, plus additional fees if something needs to be fixed. I was able to save several hundred dollars. All I want is for this fix to last as long as possible.

Without draining the pool, we were able to seal the seams of our fiberglass pool quickly and inexpensively
5/5

This stuff is incredible! Our condominium association's community pool, which is an oval pool with fiberglass sides and a plaster bottom, is one of the things I help with. We were losing a lot of water through the seams because the caulk between each of the fiberglass panels had deteriorated. We considered draining the pool and re-filling it with water. We planned to caulk the seams before opening the pool, but with the recent heavy rains and flooding in our area, we were concerned that hydrostatic pressure would cause additional damage. After doing some research, I came across this product, which seemed to be the ideal solution. br>br>I cut the compound, including the cardboard tube, into 1-inch sections from each tube and mixed/kneaded the two materials according to the directions. I then rolled the product into cigarette-thick strings and applied them to the seams both underwater and above water. When I ran out of material, I mixed some more in this manner to prevent the product from hardening before application. br>The application was simple, and smoothing the material into place and ensuring a tight seal with just my finger was simple. I used one set of the product to seal all 10 seams, and after an hour, every seam looked perfect, and the product was literally as hard as a rock. The product's durability will be determined over time, but I see no reason why it shouldn't. This product was much easier and less expensive to use than Vulkem Seal or a traditional caulking product, and it was also much easier and neater to apply. I also don't think it'll break down like other sealants. Based on my initial impressions, I would strongly advise anyone in need of a sealant for similar purposes to use this product. I also plan to inform my local pool supply company about this product so that they can recommend it to others who are having similar problems.

Repairing pool steps did not go well - This product is still a little soft after 24 hours, so I'm not happy with it
3/5

br>br>Very thoroughly mixed - 2 part epoxy putties and how to use them are familiar. However, when the product was applied underwater, as claimed, some of it dissolved immediately, resulting in a cloud of muddy water. Because I couldn't see, applying the patch was difficult. I did my best, and it was mostly hard after 24 hours, but rubbing it made it wash out even more, resulting in muddy water. I suppose I could have waited a few days for it to harden completely, but I wasn't confident in such a slow cure. br>br>I got rid of the product entirely and replaced it with loctite marine epoxy, which cures in two hours and works perfectly - I was fortunate in that I was repairing a flat surface that this liquid epoxy could adhere to. As promised, rock hard in two hours. If you have a flat surface, this is a better option.
