My pool was a 15-foot Intex. I also didn't have a skimmer built into the pool wall. Yes, I unscrewed the intake cap (the one that directs water to the pump) and screwed on the adaptor before connecting the hose. But I also had a 1-hp sand filter that worked fantastically and had excellent suction. I'm not sure if this maintenance kit will work with the pool's small filter pumps. My ultra pool is 18' by 52" and has a small sand filter, so it should work fine. To get good suction, make sure the hose is completely empty of air.
Last year, I converted my pool to salt water, and the vacuum works perfectly. BTW, the vacuum that comes with this set is by far the best I've ever used!
In the kit, you'll find everything you'll need. With the wall skimmer, this kit is also suitable for a summer escapes pool. However, because you do not have the round inlet found in Intex pools, you will need to use the vacuum adapter that came with the pool; I use mine with a Summer Escapes 18 X52 pool and have had no issues.

Youtube can be of assistance. So it's only been two days since I got this. I wasn't expecting much after reading a lot of reviews, but it turns out to be a great product. Because of two factors, I am only giving it four stars. First, the instructions state that the hose should be filled before use. You won't know how to fill a hose if you've never cleaned a pool. To figure that out, I had to watch a couple of YouTube videos. In order for the vacuum to work, the hose must be completely filled with water. If there's air in the hose, it won't work properly. Then I read some reviews in which people complained that the vacuum did not stay together. After a few test runs, I noticed that the bottom piece of the vacuum attachment was falling off. I took it out of the box and played with it for a while. I discovered that when you screw it on, it only clicks once, leading you to believe it's on. I gently screwed it in further and heard a second click. That issue was no longer an issue for me. My house has a 15-foot Intex pool attached to it. I connected the hose to one of the filter holes and then inserted the small rubber piece that came with the set into the other hole. As a result, the hose has the most suction. I vacuumed once around the pool and then removed the filter from the vacuum after ten minutes to see if it was picking up debre. That was the case, and it worked out beautifully. I vacuumed once more after cleaning the filter bag. The photos below show the results of the second vacuuming, which was completed after 10 minutes. I hope that this review has been beneficial.

The vacuum is not designed to be ripped out of the box and slammed together; if it is, it will snap and break. It's made of rubber. Because it isn't a carpet vac, it should not be used in a pool. There should be no such thing as a pool vacuum. It works fantastic if you take your time and carefully put it together step by step, just like any other pool vacuum. I used a ring I had on hand to wrap around the connection before sliding the post on. **My suggestion to the manufacturer is to include a 1/4" to 1/2" wide gasket that can be slid over the connection before connecting the post to prevent any movement in this area.
