How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

The de-icer will need to be installed up against the liner at the northwest corner of the pond. Ideally, place the unit at the shallowest part of a deep or large pond, preferably at the edge or At -10°F air temperature (the usual operating temperature for this type of unit), the water circulates around the heating element when the temperature around the element is 35-*F, and then turns off when the temperature around the radiator is 45-*F.
Test the de-icer and the thermostat with an "Air Test" to determine if they are heating properly and working.
After removing the de-icer from the outlet, place it in the freezer for 30 to 45 minutes for the thermostat to activate.
The de-icer should be removed from the freezer and plugged into the outlet as soon as possible.
As soon as the thermostat is turned up, there will be a slight clicking sound along with the unit shutting off. There is a clicking sound on the thermostat when it is operating correctly.

Questions & Answers

Do you think this would work for a 2000 gallon container?

It can be used on any size pond, because the deicer will heat up just around its circumference. The purpose of a hole is to keep a pond open. Heats the water but not the pond. Whenever I use a de-icer, I use a bubbler that erupts around it. It is a great way to keep a pond hole open. Three thousand five hundred gallons are in my pond.

The "slight clicking sound" sounds more like a loud pop, don't you think? Sometimes a sound can be heard from our backyard due to something in the yard Is that all you need to know?

Similar to yours, mine also does this. After investigating for a long time, I was finally able to figure out what the noise was. I think it's just heat and cold contracting and expanding it.

The size you have specified looks appropriate for a 50 gallon pond, do you think?

As long as it doesn't get too hot, I think would work fine. It merely prevents ice from forming right on top of the deicer. It would be better if the cord going into the unit were better sealed. The mine soaked up water as it was being worked.

Do you know how long the power cord is?

The distance between the poles must be around 10 to 12 feet, but it's a long distance.

A reliable source
5/5

To permit the exchange of gas in the pond, a reliable warmer is required. This is great. My fish would be so much more fun if they could talk.
