It's rated at 1200 watts, which translates to 12 amps. I have had no issues using a 14/3 extension cord.
Yes, I believe that is correct. Only H is used in my house. I'm not sure about the W brand tanks, but I believe they're all similar.
Sure, as long as your stock tank's opening isn't at the bottom. You don't mind the heating element being closer to your horses' or livestock's lips, and you keep the water level higher than is required when installed horizontally. br>The element has no requirement to remain horizontal.

Doesn't like to be connected to more than one tank at a time. In a Rubbermaid tank, it was installed and used for one month. We purchased a new tank, so we had to remove the old one and try to install it on the new one. It's at this point that it declares itself to be a monogamous plug. The end of the plastic screw that goes through the drain hole in the tank snapped off almost flush with the electrical housing. When it snapped, we hadn't even begun to tighten it. If we hadn't removed it from the old tank to put it in the new one, I'm sure it would still be working. Don't be fooled by the fact that you can take it out and put it in another tank. It appears to be a one-tank type of de-icer. icer. It's good to have my de-identified. Icer has better morals than many adults, but the return window has closed, so I'm stuck buying a new one and breaking frozen water with an ax until I do. br>If you're going to use in a single tank from now on, for horses or cows, square pen or round pen, in hot and cold weather, until prehistoric ice age temperatures bring death - If that's the case, then you've reached the end of your journey. For you, it's going to be a little icier. It's devoted to the point of obsession; just don't try to use it in another tank.
I bought two of these in early November to replace two older units because I live in Northern Colorado and wanted to be "ahead of the weather" this year. Both of the new heater-equipped water tanks were frozen when I went out to feed this morning. I have a five-stall barn with a 50-gallon water tank in each stall. Only the tanks with the new heaters have frozen water; the other three (with the older units) are fine. Before anyone asks, this is not an electrical issue; only the new heaters have frozen water when two heaters are plugged into the junction. Apart from being buried in 50 gallons of frozen or near-frozen water, I discarded the boxes last month, so returning them is out of the question. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement; now I not only have to buy replacements, but I also have to deal with the ice, water, and weather that these items were supposed to protect me from.
This item has exceeded my expectations! This item did not fit properly through the drain hole, according to a few reviews. I can confirm that the deicer plug I received DID fit through the drain hole perfectly. I also read that the gasket leaked in one of the reviews. My deicer's gasket is in perfect condition. I'm curious if some of the other customers didn't remove ALL of the water trough drain plug hardware before attempting to install this deicer. (I suppose we'll never find out. ) ) In any case, it's a great solution. It's something I'd strongly advise you to try.
I live in Ohio and have been using this brand for nearly two decades. Compared to similar heaters, the copper tubes are larger in diameter and have a thicker wall. Mine is used in a 100-person meeting. tank made by High Country Plastics in the size of a gallon The heater is located near the bottom of the tank, out of reach of bored and curious horse mouths, because it fits into the drain plug opening. It's a truly universal design: It makes no difference what size or threading the plug is. The heater is held in place by a rubber gasket on the inside and a large plastic nut (approximately 2 1/2 inch) on the outside. To keep the gasket from leaking, I apply a small amount of silicon sealer to it. The heaters are thermostatically controlled and have a long lifespan.
It was necessary to Jerry Rig the product. Friends: br>br>Once I replaced the old stock tank heater and started filling the 170 gallon Rubbermaid tank with water, I noticed that the tank was leaking around the supplied gasket. br>br>I emptied the tank and made a gasket out of Permatex RTV gasket maker for the outside of the tank and RTV on the supplied gasket on the inside. br>br>In the future, I would purchase the Farm Innovators model DPH 15 that almost completely fills the hole in a Rubbermaid tank, removing the need for a large gasket seal. br>br>We own and live on the 455-acre Sierra Mojada Ranch in Colorado's remote Sangre de Cristo mountain range. br>br>For more information, Google my name. My third heater has been turned on. They're one of my favorites because they're simple to set up and operate. They're not particularly delicate, but my donkeys enjoy "playing" with the water in the stock tank when it gets low enough. During the summer, keep the tank full or turn off the heater, and I believe you will be very happy.
In WV, it's 2 a. m. , and the 300 gallon Rubbermaid trough is full of nice lukewarm water. This one has been in effect for the past two years. It's fantastic! Cats have figured out how to get water from the trough as well, obviating the need for other heated water sources. It is also being used by deer from all over the world! br>It's - in the first image. 2 in WV. The day before, at 15 degrees, the second showing was installed in the trough.
Installing this was extremely difficult- It turns out that the description was incorrect, and it will not fit our Rubbermaid 100 gallon tank. We exchanged it for Allied Precision Ind's "butterfly" style (15DP 1500-1). Drain Plug (Watt).
