Questions & Answers

Assuming that variables are irrelevant, how long are you usually able to operate your ?

There are too many variables. I mowed the whole lawn twice in an attempt to drain the batteries, but they held up longer than I did, more than two hours. There is a low speed there. Last night I mowed the lawn after almost three weeks of rain and no cutting. For the first time, the mower ran for forty minutes without stopping due to dead batteries while the vegetation was at least eight inches high everywhere. It ran at top speed the whole time, and then (for the first time ever) stopped. By the time I came back, I had already bagged about eighty gallons of With 20% battery left, I was able to mow nearly the same area as I get with 20% battery. The only exception was a six-foot strip. me two minutes to grab a new set of batteries from the charger (each kit comes with four) and finish the project.

92 lbs - does that really mean it weighs that much?

This is a fairly light paper. The weight is about 40 pounds. Approximately 92 pounds seemed to be the weight of the shipment.

Battery replacement is needed if the old batteries are cheap?

The cost of replacing a 5 is roughly $100 each. You shouldn't have to replace them for many years because they have a 0Ah battery.

The new version of this comes with a 5-AH battery with indicator leds, correct? The older batteries without indicator lights were said to be included in one review?

On Amazon, both sizes of batteries are listed. A 4aH is $399 and a 5aH is $699 (as of 7/22/21). At this time, I believe they're trying to sell out of the older models with the 4aH batteries.

It was a good mower, but it came with older batteries
3/5

Despite its solid build, the mower itself doesn't have any problems. There's nothing fancy about it, but it does the job, and the batteries last a very long time, and it's quite quiet (my cordless Makita leaf blower is The tension on the safety handle should be eased, as has been mentioned by others. There is a point when you begin to lose grip after cutting about 1000 square feet. As for the rubber flaps behind, they are quite thick which makes it difficult to change from forward to reverse and back again if you are going from However, if you reverse the mower, even at one of the very lowest settings, the blade will actually cut through (*) However, due to Makita, I am giving this 3 stars. In the box and on Amazon, you can clearly see the batteries with the charge indicator lights (the new 18V Makita batteries). However, my mower came with four older style batteries without the charge indicator lights when I received it. When I emailed Makita, I didn't receive a timely response, so I called Makita to find out what my choices were either a) send back the mower or b) swap the batteries at a local authorized reseller. Choosing option b was my choice due to its liking of the mower. When I called the distributor, they said they cannot do a swap unless they were able to test the batteries and determine they were We called Makita again, and the rep was much more helpful, and they are now determining if anything else If/once this is corrected, I will update the review. The following are the updates for Update has responded to my email to say that only two of the batteries will be equipped with these These batteries were all without indicators, which contradicted their listing, not to mention that all four batteries I received were defective. My option is to return the mower if the batteries last as long (true, but the indicator lights are very helpful) and they think they'll save me money by just replacing the batteries. This appears to be a very expensive route for them to take. I have updated version 2. My phone call to Makita after showing the listing got a response, and they confirmed that all of the batteries do indeed have indicators. I was told to take them to my local reseller so they could be The distributor says it won't make the swap, so I replied telling them what happened. Their reply never came, so I waited for them to contact me. I have added an update to my last update The Makita corporate team confirmed that my best option is to return the device to Amazon and buy a new New one arrives 12/6/19. This seems to be a huge waste of money. It is worth crossing my fingers that the battery is the right one. I have updated version The batteries for the new mower were delivered a day earlier than expected. The old one has now been returned and the new one is packed up. It was not fun. It seemed like a waste of resources, but it worked out one way or another.

It's great to work with Makita
4/5

My job as a general contractor stipulates the use of only Makita products because I consider them the most durable and reliable. Others have said that the batteries last for a very short period of time, but I do not find that to be true. Having just mowed my lawn for a total of about 25 minutes now, BOTH batteries are still showing at least three With this mower, you can cut beautifully and easily. I didn't get bogged down once, but I don't let my lawn grow between sessions for months at a time. As far as I can tell it has been great, but I did have two issues that prevented me from giving it a perfect 1

I feel like I loose some maneuverability when cutting corners that are enclosed on both sides, like in a corner with fencing on both sides. The mower is a bit heavier than most, and the handle is extremely long. The second one. Rubber mud flaps are high quality and rugged, but I feel they are too high quality and rugged, as pulling them back will actually lift the mower up a bit and add a bit of resistance to the mower. Once you've used this a couple of times, it should loosen up. I have to say that it is the best battery operated piece of equipment I have ever I also recommend the weed eater, 36V, it is awesome and a beast!.

It's liberating to be free of Mowers powered by gas or petrol deliver a similar cutting performance to this battery like that the battery power and life are good, though I would like to see Makita make something higher than the You can use a battery with a capacity of 0 amp/hour for things like the mower and the In addition to being lightweight and maneuverable, the mower is extremely powerful
5/5

You can mow early in the morning or late at night and not disturb your neighbors because of the quietness of the mower. It was impossible for my family to hear me when I mowed from inside. Since I have a very steep front lawn, I was concerned I may not be able to work due to the lack of a self-propelled car. I can use the mower to push up the hill, however, since it is light. My age might make it difficult for me to get it up the hill if I were in my 60s or 70s. The mower would only be suitable for a level lawn if you are over 60 years of age. Despite being mostly assembled, the mower did not come with a I found assembly to be fairly straightforward. The mower is extremely easy to use even those unfamiliar or uncomfortable with using gas or petrol mowers should not have any trouble operating it. I received the mower in very poor conditions, as well as the contents inside. Despite the large rip in the box, I do not consider it acceptable. From the box, there was a small tear in the grass catcher. I attribute the superior performance to the heavy duty construction and the ability to endure abuse despite the poor shipping. Some reviewers have said the mower's cutting height is far too low. While I agree that Makita should have raised the mower's cutting height to 3, I think the cutting height is already I believe a maximum cutting height of 75mm (about 3 inches) is enough for most jobs when cutting up to about 5 or 4 inches. I have updated the minimum cutting height to 20mm for those who are interested There are 78 inches of it). In this section, I outline a few features I would like to see in this mower. An option for side discharge would have been welcome. In cases where the grass gets really long, but you do not want to bag it, attempting to mulch can be troublesome. One solution would be to add a high speed function where the mower keeps running at a constant 3500 rpm. When there is a lot of grass, it would make mowing easier. When the grass is thick, the mower increases power to make cutting more efficient. There was a certain amount of irritation for me in this constant changing. My mower's power would be more useful if I could control it better. You can set it to spin at 2500 rpm for quiet operation. For a mower at this price point, I think the wheels ought to be metal. Though the wheels are plastic, the treads are quite thick and have a nice grip. Ball bearing wheels do indeed appear to be on the mower according to its manual. The pros are It is easy to operate, maneuverable, low maintenance, quiet, does not emit exhaust, does not use oil or gas,, and does not need an air filter. The cons are It has a steep cut height, no side discharge, lacks rpm control, plastic wheels, an expensive price and an expensive battery.
