Be aware that an Extension cord is needed. The battery in my old corded black and decker dead about six months ago, so I bought this mower to replace it. Most of the problems with the older mower were related to the extension cord. Short 14 gauge cord became less effective over time (resistance increased) and was no longer able to provide the mower with the necessary amps. A motor that has been 'brown out' for an extended period of time has no life left. With a new 12 gauge cord for that mower, the speed and torque increased, but the damage was already With this Greenworks mower, I decided to take no chances and picked up a 10 gauge electrical cord.
