Questions & Answers

What if the lawn is planted with St. Augustine grass? Is this tiller suitable for this? I want to lay down new sod in a small yard, and I need something to till that area. ?

It worked good when I needed to clear an area that measured 4 feet by 15 feet in order to plant shrubs in a St. Augustine yard. The one piece of advice I can give is to go backwards if you can. As I went backwards, controlling the depth was not an issue. There seems to be a lot of jumping forward. The only time I had to stop was to untangle some grass wrapped around the tiller, but I needed a break anyway so it wasn't much of a hardship.

A large part of my backyard is filled with awful weeds that I'd like to get rid of. Is this machine able to rip out everything so I can reseed for a ?

While this will not completely remove everything, it will first till it under. The dead weeds will still need to be gathered. They are, however, easier to remove when it's this way.

The roof of this vehicle is not collapsible. Will it fit in an ordinary car?

Yes, my tripod is collapsible and fits on a three x three-foot The service I received from Min was excellent on some very challenging projects I worked on during my time with them.

In what way should we maintain our motor?

The only time we have used it is this year, since we only bought it this year. There is no information about it, but it is an electric motor, so whatever is needed for electric motors might apply.

Not a live individual, dead when he arrived It hangs up on you when you call the warranty support
3/5

My tiller was not functional at the time of delivery. I attempted to get the unit replaced for a week by using Sun Joe customer support, and the support was abysmal and bordering upon nonexistent This is real. The wait time was a minimum of 30 minutes every time I called, and I had to listen to stupid snow rumbling outside In the first call I made, they confirmed that it could be repaired under warranty, but since I hadn't registered on the website, they could not process the return and I could not register after I made the call. Registration on the site took only about five minutes, and a call back to the company soon followed. During the call queue this time, after about 45 minutes, the call timed out and I was told to leave a message and they would get back to me shortly. There was no response from them. Next day, I called back to check on the status of the call, and I was placed on hold for 45 minutes before being transferred It was even worse for the next three days When 30 days have passed It took 45 minutes for them to hang up on me!

I am going to return it to Amazon for a different brand as I won't be able to get this replacement through the manufacture. Your brand may be different too.

This is a great Honestly, I say The tiller I have is awesome The machinery works just as well as or better than all other gas tractors I've owned in the past, including front and rear tine tillers and two Mantis tractors
3/5

However, it has a major safety issue which means it would have received 5 stars. I can't shut it off by releasing the green on-off button even after I've used it for most of a 50x60 ft garden It's no longer possible to press it. In order to shut off the motor, I need to manually 'flick' it on the edge. For your application to do that, it is extremely difficult to control and support. This is being discussed with the company and I will update this review accordingly. It performs well on rocks, grass, and other types of terrain This is the soil, the roots. It throws all the rocks just off to one side, only bounding up the tines two times when a 3 1/2 x 6 inch rock was too big for the tine cover (*3 1/2 x 6 inch rocks) otherwise the tines are perfectly spaced. A ping hammer is relatively easy to use to remove rocks of this type. Although it would be nice to be able to remove the tines like a Mantis for ease of use. In the same way, stringy roots and vines need to be dug out. Then I use a pair of small loppers to snip out the muck from between the tines and the axle. We were pleasantly surprised at how durable and robust the motor is. In addition, it is quiet compared to a gas engine. It is unlikely that I will return.

My husband and I will both enjoy using this product for many years to come
5/5

My father is almost 80, and I purchased the Sun Joe Cultivator to do heavy cultivating by hand. I am almost 100 now, and the Sun Joe Cultivator does a superb As I used it on beds that have established annuals, they passed through it like hot butter through a knife. In the last couple weeks, we have started planting wildflowers in an area that was a patch of grass about 12' x 12'. In my first dig, I used the Sun Joe, but I found a layer of compacted clay and stone after three inches. It was difficult to penetrate, so I used a pick to cleave it up into chunks so that the Sun Joe could penetrate. After I covered the area in about six inches of leaf mold, I then started using my Sun Joe to get the job done. The stony clay was eaten away, allowing the leaf mold to blend together thoroughly. Even though the Sun Joe jammed on a couple of rocks, it wouldn't overheat. It took me only about 20 minutes to get the plot ready to plant. This is going to be one of the best investments I ever made for my garden.

There was no need for a cool down after a few minutes
5/5

My experience with it only includes one season, so I can't speak to its durability. But, I can attest to the fact that they're quite tough. It was used on some very rocky ground and occasionally raised rocks and brick the size of my fist at least a handful of times, it became jammed, but I simply hammered the offending rock from the tines and kept on going. There was only one time when I was able to kick the thermal safety mechanism The Thermal Safety function will keep it from overheating when it's turned on. There was no need for a cool down after a few minutes. In addition, you have to push it pretty hard to get the thermals to kick. during the one season I used it, I shamelessly abused it to the point of breaking it, but it still maintained its efficiency. I am satisfied with my purchase. Those were only minor inconveniences. The handle assembly was chintzy and the middle braces could have been finished a little bit better, but that still does not truly detract from the overall experience. All in all, it's a good product - Without any breakdowns or overuse, I used it above and beyond what it was designed to do. You should keep in mind that this is aimed at casual tilling, and the unit is not very heavy, so on rocky or hard terrain, it will dance around quite a bit, and you may have to go over it Nevertheless, I found it to be a good value for me, as I only use it occasionally for tilling. There is plenty of power in the motor and gearbox for its size, and the machine holds up well to some.

The toughest of the tough
4/5

My original review of the tiller did not include a review. It was so impressive to me how durable and tough this little tiller is that I decided to write this review after using it in a number of projects at home. On two projects involving extensive dirt work, I have used it We have a patio and a sidewalk of pavers. I worked this hard clay dirt over and over with this tiller in both cases in order to help break up the hard clay dirt. A tiller like this one was always able to handle the job. While I have no complaints about the machine, it scatters dirt clods as you till. I think the tiller could be improved with a larger apron around the tiller to collect the dirt it is kicking up during I give this tiller the thumbs up!.
