Questions & Answers

Does the tiller cut a path of a particular width?

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Thanks for asking. There is a choice of either 11 or 16 inches of width. The tines can be trimmed off the outside so you can get from 10 A Lawn Mower Company owned by Earthwise/American

a super hard clay surface with grass and weed how well is this going to ?

Dear Fang, thank you for your inquiry. Using the Earthwise TC70016 16 inch Tiller, you can get excellent results on A Lawn Mower Company owned by Earthwise/American

The design is the same as the 13, except for the branding. How many watts does the Scotts model have? They look the same and have the same Are there any differences between the two? Does the motor, gearbox, etc. also work with the tines?

There is no doubt that they look alike. While I dug deep without overheating some pretty tough soil in Texas with my Earthwise, I put it through hours and days of abuse. If you need more power, make sure to have a 100-foot extension cord. To have the full power out of the machine, make sure the extension cord can deliver the amps. A bargain like this is hard to find. You can enjoy this Powerzone ORK506735 SJTW Heavy Duty Extension Cord, 14/3, 100 ft, Double, when you buy it from Walmart.

What is the price in 220 Could you tell me how to convert 240 V to 110 V?

That's not the case, according to me.

This is one of my favorite things! It's amazing what a monster can do! Added new information
3/5

The second time she used it she died. (I hope my new home stays in good condition after one day! 1) This monster is awesome! As the area needs to be cleared and leveled to move a storage unit (steel skeleton and heavy coated tarp top and sides), we're doing some clearing and leveling. I replaced the broken transmission in my gas tiller Although it received a lot of use over the years). There were times when I had to put down the machine and remove stones stuck between the tines because it was so powerful. There is a monster here. No matter how large a rock is, it will be thrown to the side There are tons of rocks in the area where I'm working! A simple assembly is required. Electricity means the cord should always be thrown over your back and you have to know where it will sit before you pick it up. I don't have a problem with it. It is the POWER that I love. This review will be updated after a few weeks if anything changes or if I run into any problems. This is all I have for This is incredible. Spending money well is always worth it. The update is The second time I used it, he died.

My concrete dirt is just a matter of cutting through it
5/5

There are few things that meet your expectations when you buy them. You will be amazed at how little you will pay I cannot say enough good things about this tiller! Two out of three were twos The old-fashioned stroke tiller I used for years was temperamental and would wear me out every time I tried to start and maintain it. In half the time I would give in and go to a rental facility and rent a tiller (which was nearly impossible to load and unload). My wife and I are interested in buying an electric tiller this year. Having reviewed reviews on Amazon and watched a few Youtube videos, I finally bought this device. As a matter of fact, I live in a part of Texas where we are experiencing drought, so my soil is very hard. I expected this machine to bounce around and then choke on the first root or stick it encountered, but I'm glad to report it did not! Several videos I watched talk about it needing weight, and they taped weights on it. Could you please share with me what you did to make it extra weighty? There were lots of people pulling it backwards through the dirt without much trouble, so I did that too (I'm not a gardener, and maybe some of you already do this), so I followed their lead. I really liked how well it worked! The moment was so HAPPY for me! In all the years its done, it never choked or acted as if it wasn't able to Pay attention to keep the cord out of the way as the only drawback. It turned my "concrete" dirt into silk when I threw it over my shoulder and walked backwards. Despite the fact that I am not a review writer, I mentioned to my wife that I wanted to write a review for the product. It would be impossible for me to be happier without The weight of the work weighs less, but the work isn't light. That thing is a monster when it comes to tearing up dirt! I give it 2 thumbs up! This tiller is up for grabs.

good, a viable alternative to gas, but poor design & build quality
5/5

So, the tiller finally failed completely with just 20 square feet remaining of the original 1200 square feet. This is still a win in my opinion, especially given the cost of renting a comparable tiller, so I went ahead and bought another one and will not A postmortem was performed to determine the exact cause of the failure, which I expected to be the full stripping of the worm gear or worm drive. The worm gear was badly worn, but it was still fully functional and should have lasted for quite some time. In addition to not even a scratch on the stainless steel worm drive, it looked like it was brand new. The failure was actually caused by a cheap deep groove ball bearing (6200RS type) above the gear that was being used to absorb much too much stress for the gears' design, there should be two bearings above and below to manage the stresses associated with tilling through packed clay and I have also found dirt and small pieces of rock in the gear oil, which indicates the gearbox may not be as well sealed as they may believe. This is a disappointing design decision, for less than a dollar more per unit, they could have made the gearbox much better. In any case, I did get more use than I expected for the price and will be able to restore this one whenever the need arises. However, I still consider this to be a good My experience has been using a Mantis for quite some time, and i've been fortunate that it hasn't required major repairs like most have. I just do my usual maintenance on it. It appeared to be the perfect time to lay sod on a 1200 square foot yard. A foot is. On my property there is a parcel of land that has a slope of about 15 degrees and is half flat and half sloping. in the Santa Monica Mountains, and this parcel has been untouched for nearly a decade. It's in full sunlight 24/7, so it gets baked on a daily basis. Below 3" of soil, the soil is clay or loam, and below 5" the soil is mostly clay. The rock is hard and essentially rock-hard It has lots of rocks the size of watermelons, some so large they resemble clay. To sum it up, it's not an ideal environment for someone new to the city A tiller used in industry. Since I wanted to be able to work on this project until the evening, I decided to try an electric tiller that was much quieter than its gas counterpart. It is my hope that this 13 will live up to my expectations. As per our reading, the expectations of the 5A tiller were not so high since it was not comparable to the gas powered models. However, I can't speak to the durability of this product, nor can I speak to the quality of customer service provided by this company, but I can speak to its useability since I have been using it for about 5 hours a day for the past four days. With a price that is less than a third of that of a Mantis, this tiller is one hundred percent equal to its competitor We may be able to churn our rock hard soil better than the competition. You should lose any reservations you may have about its power if you are like me. A tiller like this one can handle all the worst of it without skipping a beat, kick out boulders the size of cantaloupes and go through the toughest conditions. The Clay does not deal well with the hardest of clay pockets, but the Mantis also dealt with them. In my expectation, higher rotational speed would produce lower torque, but this was wrong as well. Due to its faster speed, I have to be more careful when using this tiller in loamy soil since it digs much faster than the Mantis. The bottom line is, this tiller actually works and it works nicely even when I'm working with the worst soil. I want to add a couple of You will need to become accustomed to the cord. It isn't a big issue, but something you have to deal with. This can easily be solved with a bungee cord attached to the power cable, or you can use a hose as an alternative. Rather than to work it in reverse, I've chosen to work it forward, in small chunks, so the cord is always behind me. Also, while we're talking about cords, make sure your extension cord is rated for your tiller's amp requirements. As a second recommendation, I recommend putting hose clamps where the segments of the handle are attached with J-bolts This prevents it from coming loose while it bounces around - it is held in place by bolts It bounces quite a bit due to its higher speed, so you should prepare for that as well. In addition, I think the manufacturer should investigate the possibility of firmly decoupling the tiller from the handle so that users are not subjected to vibrations. However, it would require some rework. I partially achieved the same thing on the Mantis by strategically placing sorbothane, but I did not consider it the best solution. It would make things easier on the hands and arms. Here's what I have to say. The tiller is a great tiller, it has the advantages of electric power, and it also has the strength of similar sized gas If anyone tells you otherwise, they are either not using it or work If anything changes my current view, I will update when the project has been completed.

For the money, this is a great tiller! That's so cool
4/5

I really like how this thing Since I don't garden, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a tiller, but I was hoping that one would be able to till up the clay soil that had eroded in my yard from a lot of erosion. As a result of reading a lot of online reviews, I ordered this product. It would be nice to have an electric tiller as I have enough machines requiring oil changes, gasoline, spark plugs, etc. There would be no maintenance required with the electric tiller! The back yard in my home has been dug up to around six inches deep Using this digger, you will be able to reach 8 inches. I worked hard and it was hard on my back and arms, so don't expect much performance from a rear tine tiller if you just guide it along. In my experience, I found that what was suggested in the owners manual worked best. Follow one direction, then follow perpendicular to that. Hard packed clay soil was pulverized into fine sand by this piece of equipment. In the final step, I installed a fresh layer of top soil and seeded the There is only one negative I could think of one of the wheels came off while I was tilling and the screw, washer and hubcap got tilled under to some degree before the wheel fell off, so they are Earthwise should include a small tube of loctite with the product in case they need to keep the screw from vibrating off. A drop on each screw would make it less likely the screw will fall It would have been better if I had A replacement screw from the hardware store should be used on the other wheel and I intend to replace that. The only thing I'm glad about is that when the wheel fell off, the tines didn't chop it up. I'm not sure how big of a situation it was.
