Yes, and it isn't very effective.

Is this going to warm up my pond?

It works great, but it's not designed to heat the pond. It's only purpose is to keep a breathing hole open to avoid toxic buildup. The most important thing is to have enough water to keep it from freezing to the bottom.

I'd like to purchase one that lasted more than two months! I have four large koi in a small pond (less than 1,000 gallons)

I'm in Colorado's Front Range. Every year, for a few days, the temperature drops below zero degrees Fahrenheit. We've arrived at that point, and the Floating Pond Decommissioning Project is in full swing. Icer, which I put in the pond shortly before Christmas, isn't working. This is something I go through once a year. These knickknacks are only good for two months. If the temperature remains above freezing, it will take a little longer. In other words, if you expect them to keep their promises for more than two months, they will not. Every year, I buy two in the hopes of being proven wrong this year. This hasn't happened yet, despite the fact that I've owned this pond for a long time. I'm about to disassemble one of these to figure out why they break down so quickly. If you require one, Amazon offers only two options, both of which fail at a similar rate.

Easy to understand About two months ago, we bought ice for our koi pond

It's held up well in the cold, though wet snow did accumulate on the body once (which the manufacturer addresses in the instructions). It's not a big deal; all you have to do now is brush it aside. My only gripe is that I wish there was a visible indicator light that would let me know if the unit was working from a distance. the all- The unit's black body makes it difficult to distinguish it from the surrounding water.

This is something I 100% recommend! We purchased this for our 500 gallon garden pond, and it came in handy during the recent cold spell! When the temperature dropped to -, it performed admirably

18° (with wind chill) and kept a hole in our pond open while the rest of the pond froze over, nearly 3" deep, with another 8" of snow on top of that. Our backyard birds also appreciated the small amount of heat it provided (this is NOT meant to heat your pond; it's only meant to keep a hole in the ice open), and they were able to get water when their other sources of water had frozen over. We're all very excited because I was able to see one of my fish today!.

This method is ineffective

I've bought two of these in the last three years, and they both don't work. One worked for a while, emitting a low-level of heat that was barely noticeable, but then it stopped. I thought the other one was working, but it wasn't. I've had enough of this. For my garden pond, I'm using a vintage metal disc heater.

So far, I've managed to keep a hole in the ice

There hasn't been a lot of bitterly cold weather recently. At night, the temperature has dropped to the low 20s. This de- Our stream continues to run because icer always leaves a hole in the ice. I'm hoping for a minimum of three seasons. I will update the review if any issues arise.

It's fantastic! nNo Ice

This deicer is one of my favorites. It took a few days for it to settle in, but after about three days, all of the ice melted and I haven't had any since. 4' x 10' x 3' deep is the size of my main part. It's covered by a 10'x20' greenhouse, but there's no heat in it. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to others!.

Heater for a Pond Outside

Last year, I purchased this heater for our backyard pond. Because we have a second pond with the baby fish that had survived, I ordered another one this year. This heater is incredible.
