Following the instructions is the key to success. According to the reviews on Amazon, the product has received mixed reviews. I found it to be absolutely perfect for what I need. My lawn was mostly dead, and when I tried to water it, it sprouted weeds instead of grass. To begin, I pulled weeds and removed scarring from the soil that had resulted from the use of a claw hoe.
Photos of our before and after results are attached to demonstrate the success of this grass seed. There has been a lot of success with this grass seed in southeastern Pennsylvania. While both of our yards are somewhat shady, with consistently watering this seed has produced really good results. It is turning our lawns into a nice, new green one. The pros are Please note With the right watering and soil preparation, the grass will grow quite lush. The cons are Please note The seed is difficult to evenly spread without the help of a specialized spreading tool, which is almost an additional purchase.
It is not the same for all Scots. This product was used to reseed an area of my front yard, and the grass looks great. I like its thick growth and that it keeps from growing too tall. My hope is that all Scots are marvelous, so I planted Scott's landscaper mix in my backyard and received nothing but garbage in return. We have a huge lawn full of tall fescue that seems to grow like crab grass. In order to reseed the lawn in the backyard, I will have to kill the grass first.
It wasn't worth the price. There is no doubt that Scotts is a brilliant marketing firm. A mixture of fertilizer and chemicals is used to produce the coating. Their process converts commodity products (seed, mulch and fertilizer) into a high-end product. In essence, this is the same as a high load mutual fund. About half of the mass of the product is made up of the blue coating, while the seed mix is meant to act as an insurance policy. It is likely that only 10 percent to 20 percent of the actual seed in the bag comes from plants suitable for any given site. There is no question that a seed will germinate only if the soil conditions are favorable, regardless of whether it has a blue coating. The best place to look for such seeds is on Amazon, where you can find generic seeds that are You can also ask your local landscaping soil provider which grass type would be best suited to your location. You can then buy compost, top soil, and generic fertilizer with your savings.
There is no magic in this world. It's just smart marketing to use the blue coating. It is not enough to color the soil a cool blue it also has to be well prepared.
The only way you can use this is if you have a partially shaded lawn or partly shaded area in your lawn. I realize it's a pain in my neck, but I cannot avoid it. The texture is really, really fine. This is what I like
It's really, really fine. This is a very soft material. Shady areas seem to be a better environment for it to grow. The thing I don't like is that you can't actually walk on it. There is a lot of fragility in the material, making it very easy to trample. Whenever the ground is wet, it feels like this pulls right out from under your feet, leaving mud on your feet. A lot of water is needed to keep it green in the summer if it doesn't turn brown quickly. Located in Virginia, I work as a lawyer. Heat is a real problem for this grass in the summer. This plant isn't really suited for sunny areas because it dries out too fast, requires a lot of water, and turns brown as soon as it gets dry. As a result, I think I would rather plant regular fescue in the sunny spots of my yard. There is something different about the grass. From this seed you can grow grass with a much finer texture (like angel hair pasta as opposed to regular grass which is similar to linguine) that easily turns brown. You have a lawn that stands out because of it. As a result, it sounds like a vicious cycle-I seed all of the dead patches in the fall, then this nice soft, fine textured grass pops up in late September or October, and looks great. As soon as the spring comes, the tree looks really good, and then, as soon as the fall comes, this tree is dead with bare spots again and the cycle begins I hate it. It doesn't matter if your yard doesn't get much sunlight, mulch makes more sense if you don't have a sunny area. I would appreciate a "helpful" rating from Amazon if my review was helpful to you. Thank you for your kind words.
My first step was to clean up the area, then lay a thick layer of weed and feed, topsoil, then A few days later, I went back and sowed some more seeds to be sure I had enough. After six months, most of the weeds that grew throughout the area where I had planted seeds are already dead. It doesn't seem that they give you grass seeds, they give you weeds! Since the weeds are below the soil, why is the rest of the grass doing so well? I think.
This second bag I ordered came after the first one had grown fine, but I did not have enough. There must be some sort of error in the seed batch. During the course, I followed all the instructions until a successful result was obtained. In fact, I even put Scott's Lawn Soil down first and watered it twice per day as they recommended, but the results were poor. Heat resistance and drought resistance are described as having been properties of the seed, but that does not match Though I am watering faithfully twice a day, the grass at the base of the first bag has thinned out and is dying off. I spent a lot of time, money and energy, but I don't see any grass in return. I requested a refund from Scott's, and they have done so per their "Guarantee. " Customer service has also been excellent when working with them.
