This wheat seed must have drainage when planted in a pot. I use a pot that has a drainage saucer attached to it.
If there isn't enough natural light, you might be able to make do with artificial lighting. I always soak the seeds outside for 24 hours so they can get some light, then plant them once they sprout, which greatly speeds up the process. That might be useful as well.
Thank you for contacting me with your query. No, this is not a lawn seed that we would recommend.
They are being sold by those who are selling them. There is nothing official about it. It's for my cats, so I'm growing it.

She was a stray that we took in and is now an indoor cat, so I'm sure she misses her grass. I placed an order and sent an email to see how I should go about growing this; I wanted to use a cheap litter box but wasn't sure if it would work. Within an hour, I had a response to my email! They were extremely accommodating, and I will continue to patronize the "Cat Ladies" in the future. PS- It worked perfectly, I used some potting soil, and she was all over it in about three days! Thank you, Cat Ladies, for allowing her to sleep and eat in it at the same time.
It's a hit with the bunnies.
It was originally marketed as "cat grass," but it turned out to be ordinary wheat seeds. A feed store will be less expensive. The old bait-and-switch tactic.
I have 3- Grass that is 4 inches tall. Because of the heat, I had to plant inside.
After reading online about the importance of soaking, rinsing, and other steps, I decided to purchase this bag because it is smaller than others. I was relieved to find that the instructions simply instructed me to plant it without soaking it first, which I did. Within a few days, it sprouted. It grows extremely quickly, and my rats absolutely adore it!.
I grow them in a plastic container with no soil (not sure if my potting soil has weird chemicals/minerals in it that are dangerous to eat), and just rinse them off every 12 hours. They take about a week to fully grow, and another week to be mowed by the feline (so start another batch when the first one finishes growing).
I'm very pleased with the product and plan to purchase more once these run out. I would strongly suggest it.
Now I see nearly 100% growth with very little non-permanent growth with very little non-permanent growth with very small non-permanent growth% It's a great starter for my guys. I start it outside during the summer, and you should see (and hear) them when I bring it in for them.
