Questions & Answers

What is the reason for the high cost? It is $9. If you buy the same product from Ace, you'll save $99. What sets this apart from the others?

It's no longer available at ACE or anywhere else; they've stopped supplying it in our area.

Is this product effective at preventing cats from peeing in your garden? Also, how long does it last and how much does it cost if it needs to be replaced frequently?

That is why I purchased it. My sister (a cat lover) told me a few years ago that we could use this to keep cats out of the flower beds under our windows. She explained that cats dislike walking on the shells, which is why it keeps them away. I bought some large bags of it at our local garden center at the time, and it wasn't too expensive; I can't say whether this or that brand is better, or whether this is more expensive; I don't recall. Both of them had jobs. I couldn't find it anywhere else, so I looked online and came across this. These beds are no longer used by the cats, so I guess it's working. I haven't seen any cats around it, but the smell of cat urine and feces is no longer present. After a few months, it wears out and needs to be replaced. It appears that the amount of time it takes is determined by how wet it becomes. I'd say 4 out of 5. 6 months to a year, depending on how fresh you want it to be. You're also teaching your cats to avoid these locations. I use it in beds that get full sun in the afternoons, so I don't have any mildew or other issues that other people have reported. It absorbs the old odors while also leaving a faint cocoa scent.

Is the mulch organically certified? "Wholly organic" is mentioned in the description, but it is unclear whether this refers to certified organic. ?

Cocoa bean mulch, cocoa bean hull mulch, and cocoa mulch are all names for cocoa shell mulch. The shell of the cocoa bean separates from the bean when it is roasted. The shells are sterilized during the roasting process, making them weed-free and organic.

Quite an unusual query. Is it okay if I make tea out of the mulch? I've made tea before with cocoa husks, and I'm wondering if I could do the same with this?

There is no way. These aren't edible ingredients. bean hulls of a higher quality or those that have been packaged for human consumption The hulls are packaged in plastic bags (probably not food-safe) and stacked on pallets outside in the open. But: This mulch is particularly good when spread over newspaper. If you meant "compost tea" for your garden plants, the answer is probably yes - This is a fantastic concept.

Mold, mold, mold, mold, mold, mould, mould, mould, mould, mould I'm astounded by the five-star ratings
3/5

Sure, it looked nice in my planters when I scooped it in. Then it began to rain, and the illusion was shattered. It's been a losing battle with white cotton candy for the last three weeks. Mold, an obnoxious "earthy" odor, and fungus gnats are just a few of the symptoms. Fungus gnats, oh my! My balcony and porch have turned into gnat breeding grounds. My cats, on the other hand, are having a great time! br>br>Each new day brings new mold to the soil, thanks to the morning mist. If there is even a speck of moisture in the atmosphere, the consequences are disastrous. I just had to spray Spectricide Immunox on everything in my container garden because I'm fighting powdery mildew at the same time. In terms of which plague came first, it's a chicken-and-egg situation; simply put, this mulch is endangering the health of my plants. I'm devoting more resources to resolving the issue. When I went out to prune my lovely echinacea yesterday, I discovered that the mulch mold had spread to its leaves. (It wasn't powdery mildew, either. ) ) I was on the verge of crying. That was the final straw for me. Maybe it's just too hot for this stuff in coastal California? I went out and bought a bag of good old straw mulch right away.

If You Believe Chocolate Is Heaven, This Smell Is For You! I used to be able to find this at the local big box stores without difficulty many years ago
5/5

However, it appears that it is becoming more difficult to locate as a result of careless people allowing their dogs to run around and eat it from other people's yards. br>br>However, despite paying three times as much as before, I have no regrets. I have a small planting area in front of my house, which is a covered courtyard; as I previously stated, it is quite small. However, once the mulch has been placed - I prefer to use it as a cushion for container plants instead of planting directly in the abysmal Las Vegas soil – I adore it. It's lovely to look at, and even better to smell. We're having a heat wave right now, and every time I open my front door, I'm greeted with a blast of heat and chocolate. Mmmm! I've ordered cocoa hull mulch bags from a variety of online vendors and received everything from completely dry to damp and moldy. One of the appealing features of this mulch is that it has little or no odor. This is the first time I've received a bag that is exactly as I remembered it. Regardless of the price, I strongly suggest this mulch. Naturally, because we live in such different climates across the country, your results may differ from mine; however, because I've used similar products before, I know what to expect, and it's perfect for my needs! And no, the chocolate scent doesn't last forever, but it's well worth enjoying while it lasts!.

This is a brand that you should not buy!! On April 1, I purchased 15 bags of this mulch, which we spread in our flower beds in late April
3/5

It has hatched gnat larvae, and my flower beds are now crawling with small white maggots, so I'm having to vacuum it out of my flower beds. I had previously purchased and been very pleased with the Blommers brand. There were large chunks of crushed cocoa hulls in it. It reminds me of cocoa shells that have been pulverized. After it rains, it hardens into a crust, allowing mold to thrive. I am unable to return it because it has been over 30 days. Unacceptably bad. It turned out to be a complete waste of money because every last speck of this stuff will need to be removed and replaced with new mulch.

It should not be wet (or fed after midnight)
3/5

I'm not serious. Everything was fine until it started to rain. And, to be fair, there was a lot of rain. However, this quickly devolved into moldy sludge. It was a complete disaster, and it tracked throughout the house, causing even more havoc. It's just disgusting. If you live somewhere with a drier climate, I would advise you to go ahead and do it. For two days, it smelled wonderful. However, what happens if it rains? No. Not if there's more than a sprinkling of rain.

HORRIBLE
3/5

After several days of carefully following all of the instructions and placing the mulch around some trees in my new garden, it became covered in a layer of white mildew or mold, as well as a thick layer of very thin-walled weeds. black grass with blades It appears to be AWFUL! Other things have sprouted as a result of it. This stuff isn't just worthless; it's also taking up a lot of my time to get rid of.

Has there been a significant price increase? It arrived on time and in good condition
5/5

When opened and spread on a section of the garden, the aroma is excellent and lasts for about four hours. 5 days. The cocoa bean mulch is lovely in and of itself. When I realized I didn't have enough, I went back to Amazon to find the price had jumped to $60 in a matter of minutes. come on. Too much, so I switched to Plan B (small bark chips), which isn't my first choice but works in a pinch and is referred to as "market-ready. " carrying a $60 monetary burden".

It's Surprisingly Amusing
4/5

Honestly, all I needed was some mulch for my new mulberry trees, but the novelty of being able to get these enticed me. I'm glad I gave in because my back yard still smells like chocolate on a sunny day after months. In terms of adhesion and weed suppression, this was my first time using mulch, so I can't really compare it to other projects, but I can say that my trees are still breathing freely at their base, and there's still a mound of mulch there, despite two hurricanes, subsequent flooding, and general lawn maintenance. br>br>After a few days, one bag produced some sort of orange mold or fungus, but it did not appear to harm the tree or other plants in my yard, and it went away on its own; I'm not sure if the growth was caused by the mulch or by my yard.

Wow, I'll never use regular mulch again
5/5

This type of mulch was mentioned to me, but I was unable to locate it in my area. This year, I went to Amazon and found it. This cocoa bean shell mulch has exceeded my expectations. It has stayed put in my raised flower bed and has held up well to rain and wind. On a side note, if you enjoy chocolate, this is the dish for you. It has a wonderful scent to it. The added benefit is that you can incorporate it into the soil when the time comes, and it will help aerate the soil without having to be removed like regular mulch.
