Questions & Answers
I used these in my kitchen patio's small herb garden. It was visually appealing and, in my opinion, worked well for a project involving edible plants. I don't recall whether the pecans were organically grown.
Both of these things I have accomplished. I've used pecan shells as mulch with nothing beneath them, but I've also used it over rice hulls. It appears that spreading it over the rice hulls worked better for weed control. Rice hulls also make it more difficult for water to seep down to the plants you want to grow. Pecan shells are generally expensive and difficult to come by in many parts of the country, so if I have a large area to cover, I lay down rice hulls first, followed by a thin layer of pecan shells. If there is a limited amount of space, I would simply use more shells for depth and skip the hulls.
The weight of the 1/2 cubic foot box is 8 1/2 pounds.
In a large priority mail box, this is one-half of a cubic foot.
Selected User Reviews For Pecan Shells
In both my flower beds and flower pots, these pecan shells last longer than mulch. They are more costly than mulch, but they are well worth the investment.
I use it in a rock tumbler as a softer tumbler material because it's great for mulch.
It was delivered on time. This is exactly what I was looking for. I would order from them again.
