It is NOT etched, but rather painted on. I examined it with a jeweler's lens and compared it to my machinist's 6" scale, which has graduations in etched recesses visible from the edge. There are no etched recesses on the Norpro scraper.
Mine has been in my possession for a few years and shows no signs of rust. If it was going to rust, it would have done so by now because I ran it through the dishwasher.
Everything on my computer had been wiped clean. I use it about twice a week. Every week, five times. I did some research and discovered that it was made in Washington. I'm not sure if this is of any use.
My old scraper/chopper (non-commercial) I decided to buy a new one because the one I had was getting a little dingy. Because it has a flat edge, it does not chop vegetables as well as my old scraper did. My previous one wasn't as sharp as this one, but it had a thinner edge. I was let down. I haven't made up my mind about returning or not. I don't know the brand of an old scrapper because it lacks a name.

The numbers and markings are printed/stuck on this rather than etched, and they dislodged into my dough while I was portioning it. It was only hand-washed and did not go through the dishwasher. Getting one with etched markings is a better option.
I purchased this 5 years ago, according to Amazon. br>br>Funny enough, I'm not sure I have a scraper with inch measurements on it! br>br>Oh, and the inch markings and brand name fade after a while. br>br>Aside from that, it's quite sturdy and functional, and will undoubtedly last forever!.
This is a must-have tool for anyone who bakes bread. making. It works well for scraping dough from a variety of surfaces. It comes in handy when working with sticky no-knead doughs. It can also be used to separate dough or move pieces around. When it gets sticky, the all-steel design makes it simple to clean. And if you use it correctly, it will become sticky. br>br>However, the fact that this is marketed as a chopper bothers me. Knives are used to cut things up. This thing isn't sharp out of the box, and sharpening it with a stone would most likely ruin it, making it difficult to use as a scraper. Because it isn't made of cutlery steel, I doubt it will keep an edge. Sure, you could push the blade through some vegetables, but you could also use a spatula to cut them. Get an ulu if you're looking for a chopper with this shape. Or, better yet, learn to use your chef knife, which is great for scraping but not so much for chopping.
The edge tool makes it much easier to remove the bits from the cutting board. Much better than using a spatula, a knife, or lifting and tipping the cutting board in the hopes of getting everything into the pan! It's an important piece of equipment in my kitchen.
This is something I'm glad I bought. It's extremely useful for getting food from my chopping board to the bowl, pot, or pan to which I'm transferring it. It was a great value for the money, and it is of good quality and durability. Plus, it makes you feel a little more organized while putting together dinner! If you don't want to wash it by hand, you can put it in the dishwasher, which is always a plus in my book.
I've been trying to keep my kitchen gadget purchases to a minimum, but I finally caved and purchased a bench scraper. Until I purchased one, I had no idea how much I could do with it. It's a must-have for anyone baking bread because it makes cutting dough into smaller pieces so much easier. Cleaning up my workspace, preparing ingredients, cutting and scooping, and measuring are all things I do with it. This bench scraper has a solid feel to it, and I've had no problems putting it in the dishwasher.
As a chopper, however, it's a different story. Although I didn't have any tomatoes or onions, I was able to easily chop cooked potatoes and boiled eggs for potato salad. It's a great addition to my kitchen tools because I can easily wash it by hand.
The construction is of high quality. Because of the open design, I deducted one star. It's very easy for food to get stuck inside the curl, and cleaning it can be difficult at times. I was able to find a round brush that fits in, which was very helpful. However, it is a solid scraper.
