Plastic
Contrary to OXO's claims, it isn't. Take a look at my photo gallery and review. In less than three months, both of my graters have cracked.
It is non-slip on both surfaces. This grater is one of my favorites, and I use it frequently.
It all depends on your personal preference for slaw. It's excellent and precise. However, wet chips are the result. If you prefer drier strips, go with something else.

Even though it only has one slot, the grater is still too narrow. On this, even cucumbers are difficult to slice. br>br>Everything else about the product's design and quality is impressive; I've been using cheap graters for fifty years and initially thought this purchase was a bit pricey, but after a few weeks of use, I have no regrets. br>The grating grids are razor-sharp and perfectly shaped, making grating and cleaning a breeze. The steel appears to be of good quality, but I've only had it for a short time to comment on its durability. br>The box that fits over the grater's bottom is extremely useful - There were two of us, in my opinion. br>The detachable zester is the most precise I've ever used: You get all of the zing but none of the white underbelly. It's also a good size, even for someone with a lot of hands.
UPDATE: br>Removing a star from the review. The replacement failed in the same way as the original, and even more quickly. Despite what Oxo claims, this is not dishwasher safe because the plastic isn't strong enough to withstand even a Miele dishwasher without a drying element. ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGINAL: ORIGIN br>This grater is sharp, easy to clean, and comes with a clever collection cup that stores in the base. It's a lot nicer than the old one, which was rusted and all metal. However, after only three months of light use, it has cracked in three places. As usual, Amazon customer service was excellent, and a replacement is on the way. I'd give it a higher rating if the next one lasted longer, but for now, I'd consider the plastic construction a liability.
I'll start with one of the flaws I discovered, which is that when shredding cheese, a lot of it ends up outside the container, even at an angle. It's not uncommon for a large portion of what you zest to remain on the zester, but this is simple to remove. The grater is extremely durable and does an excellent job of grating and zesting. The fact that the container has measurements and multiple functions appeals to me. I understand that the price is a little high for something that can be found at a 99ct store, but the quality, durability, multiple functions, and attractive design make it worthwhile.
existent. There has been no refund as of February 17th, 2021. OXO should put more effort into customer service; they would have gladly exchanged my defective grater for another defective grater if they hadn't blared their refund horn so loudly, but I chose to go that route because they blared their refund horn so loudly. That was probably a surprise to OXO. br>br>Does this appear to be something you've seen before? I'd swear the other buyer took a picture of mine if I didn't know better; clearly an engineering flaw, but OXO was very accommodating. I'm currently requesting a refund because this does not bode well for the product's long-term viability. We'll have to wait and see what happens. br>br>Another person advised you to keep an eye on your knuckles. They weren't joking when they said they didn't know what they were talking This is a razor-sharp piece of equipment! br>br>I noticed the grated garlic stuck to the inside of the zester as I was noticing the grated garlic stuck to the interior. If you run this through the dishwasher (which you should be able to do, there's no reason why you shouldn't. ), I recommend removing the zester and placing the grater, opening down, in the dishwasher. After that, it should be cleaned on the inside. br>br>I do not recommend this. If enough people use OXO's exchange/refund policy, the zester problem will eventually be resolved. You might want to get some Kevlar gloves as well. br>br>1/8/2021 EDIT: I can no longer recommend this product because I have yet to receive a refund from OXO, but as you can see from the most recent photo, it may not last that long in the first place.
It gets the job done in a professional manner. Make sure your knuckles are in good shape: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Every time, I've grated my knuckles; the concept is brilliant - The cheese is caught in the box, which also serves as a storage container for extra grated cheese! The blades are also extremely sharp, which is great because they get the job done! However, I believe it would be enhanced if it included a small cheese holder (similar to those found on traditional mandolins) so that people like me ( ) do not grate their fingers and knuckles.
I asked for a substitution. The replacement had the same broken piece (the lid of the small container). This one was even worse than the first because it couldn't be used. It works fine as a grater. br>br> It works. As a box grater, however, some cheese spills out onto the counter. It's not much, but it's enough to be noticed. I had a Microplane box grater for a long time before getting this Oxo, and I don't recall ever having that problem with it. br>br>One feature I like about this one is the side-mounted slicer, which is much better than a vegetable peeler at shaving a chunk of Parmigiano-Reggiano. I've never used the Microplane's slicer, so I can't make any comparisons.
This grater is one of my favorites. It's easy to store because it's small - br>br> especially considering what it is capable of. br>br>The detachable zester is a great feature, and when combined with the container at the bottom, it makes for the ideal cheese grater. br>br>Oxo is a fantastic company, and I'm slowly but steadily filling my house with their products - As with many other brands, the quality has deteriorated. br>br>I can't think of anything negative to say about this - I strongly advise you to do so.
This grater is one of my favorites. I used hard Parmesan cheese, which grated quickly and evenly. I used the micro plane on the side to zest a lemon and it worked perfectly, and I used the measuring cup reservoir on the bottom to catch while grating and it stayed put perfectly.
