Questions & Answers

Is there enough room to cut apple slices for apple chips with this? What is the thickness of the slices?

Yes, in fact, this was my primary motivation for purchasing this item. If you purchase the 3 pound bags of apples, They're not very big. as if it were a tennis ball - They're perfect for cutting. Start with the gripper off to get a flat side of the apple, then put it on and slice quickly! They slice thinly, probably about the thickness of a greeting card. I bake them at 190 degrees for about 45 minutes, until they turn a tad tan and crisp. I don't season them at all, but if you want to add some flavor, you can sprinkle some cinnamon on top. They turn out beautifully, and you can eat an entire gallon ziploc bag of them guilt-free!

I don't have access to a dishwasher; is it difficult to wash by hand, and am I at risk of being cut?

Despite having a dishwasher, I frequently wash the set by hand because it is no more dangerous than any other grater or cutter. I've never cut myself while cleaning it (though I did once julienne my finger while cutting a carrot - It's because of me). You should be fine if you make all of your washing strokes in the opposite direction of the one you would use when cutting.

Is it possible to cut blocks of cheese with just one blade?

Yes, a block of cheese can be used.

Is this a stainless steel product?

The blades are made of stainless steel and are extremely sharp. Plastic is used for the rest. It's simple to use and keep.

Sharp to a fault
3/5

It's practical. There are flaws in this product! Rating has been lowered as of 5/21/2020. Read on to find out more. br>br>I needed something to help me speed up the process of slicing and dicing those vegetables, and this does the trick. The blades are attached to the lids that fit on top of a smallish container, so there's usually no mess. br>br>The blades are extremely sharp and the storage option is very convenient. br>br>Now I'll get to the unit's biggest flaw. the holder that is included with the unit To cut the food, you should move it over the blade with the handle. Until you get to the last few bits, that works fine. I'm not a fan of the fact that the container lacks a system that allows the holder to fall into a groove or guide. Currently, you just scrape and bang against the lid, and it's difficult to get the last of the food item sliced. Worse, even if you carefully guide the holder over the blade, the blade still catches it. One of the julienne blades eventually bent as a result of this. br>br>This design needs to be improved. After a few months of use, additional issues arose.
- The blades cut into the holder, causing it to break.
- The Julienne slicer isn't cutting it anymore. The plastic bends, and the blades don't completely cut through the food.
- It's a pain to grate with the graters. It's no better than a regular box grater in terms of dumping food outside.
- Only the slicer is effective in the end. Other possibilities are on my mind.

Grater of the Year! I needed a cheese grater, so I looked up reviews on graters on Google to help me make a decision
5/5

This was recommended as one of the best options. I like that it has storage and that the lid can be used to hold whatever you're grating or slicing. It is extremely useful. When you're in the kitchen and time is of the essence, you want convenience. It includes four graters/slicers in various sizes. When not in use, they can all be stored horizontally on the storage lid. The various surfaces are color-coded, and the entire set is simple to clean. br>I've only used the large (coarse) grater surface to grate cheese so far. It took a few moments for me to get my bearings, but once I did, grating cheese was a breeze. The lid even has measurements on it, so you can see how much you've grated. It appeals to my tastes. I'm looking forward to experimenting with the other surfaces in the kitchen. If you're on the fence about buying something, this is a good option.

It's great, but be careful because it's very sharp! Pros: Non-stretchy celery is easily cut by the sharp blade
5/5

Slip feet keep the container steady while in use, it's comfortable to use, the lid doubles as a container for collecting and measuring food, the container's handles provide a secure, comfortable grip while grating or slicing, it's easy to store, and it comes in a variety of colors. br>br>Cons: Be careful because the blade will easily sever your skin (I learned this the first time I used it). ouch!.

However, it isn't quite as good as it could be
4/5

I bought it after a young friend recommended it for grating foods as "the bomb diggety. " The good: This has a spot where you can rest your grater, slicer, or julienne cutter on the transparent top of the container where the set is kept. At the top, the grater or slicer nestles against the black handle, and a notch prevents it from sliding down to the bottom. It's a little tricky to get it exactly where you want it in the slot, and if you don't get it just right, it'll slide around. Both graters and the slicer have worked well for me so far. I have yet to find the toothed part that is supposed to hold the food for grating to work; Carrots, parmesan, mozzarella, and cheddar cheeses have all been tried. It shreds the hard cheese, slides off the mozzarella, and has no grip on the carrot. So, while the design and concept are fantastic, I had to deduct one star due to the difficulty in properly nesting the graters/slicers and the pusher not working at all.

Well-suited to small-scale grating projects
4/5

storage that has been designed I've used it a couple of times now, and I really like it! First and foremost, a word of caution: This isn't meant for grating large amounts of food. If you need more than a cup to 1 1/2 cup of something, you'll need to use a different kitchen tool. Because the grating surface isn't very long, you'll have to make more short passes to get the same amount of grated material. It does, however, come with a handy set of grids, including a slicing plate similar to a mandoline. It also comes with a "handle" to prevent you from grating your fingers in the process and to make grating certain types of food easier. I prefer to grate into a sealed container because it creates far less mess. And the design for how everything fits together and stores neatly was clearly given a lot of thought. That earns you a grade! The only thing I would suggest is that a cleaning tool be included, as the grids and "handle" are difficult to clean. Also, perhaps some markings to make it more obvious which way the grating plates go when preparing to grate. That part isn't as obvious as it could be, but I eventually figured it out. But I'm glad I got it in the end.

This is a great set to have on hand! For over a year, I had this set on my Amazon wish list
5/5

I finally placed an order for it, which my husband will present to me on my birthday this year. (He didn't order it last year because he was too busy. ) Instead, he got me a slicing set for my mandolin. ) I really like this set. I rarely used the mandolin because it was a pain to take out and clean. Everything is kept in the case with this set. A measuring guide is on the side of the grater or slicer, which fits snugly in the clear top part. gives you a sense of how much work you've accomplished. When I'm done, I just throw it in the dishwasher or wash it in the sink quickly - Cleaning is a breeze! I don't like the food gripper, but that's probably just me - That's how I'm having trouble with them all. I believe that as I use it more, I will become better. And I'm sure I'll use it more than any other tool I've used before.
