Since OXO changed their brush from black to a revolting green, I've been on the lookout for nice vegetable brushes. I contacted OXO via email and phone to request the return of the Black color. No, the customer service representative stated that she had received a large number of complaints, and this was over 18 months ago. So I waited, and sure enough, someone figured out what I was up to. These are just a tad bigger, but they're a lot nicer and more affordable. On one end, the bristles are softer, while on the other, they are stiffer. It also has a small notch that can be used for scraping. I'll never visit the OXO again. This is much better and more well-made. EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.
This vegetable brush has a great look and feel to it. Just over half of it has stiff (but not excessively stiff) bristles, while the other half has softer bristles. This allows it to clean effectively while also removing dirt and scale. I put this brush to the test with some extremely dirty and scaly potatoes, and it performed admirably. br>br>It's very simple to hold, and I have semi-professional experience with it. Hands that are large. It fits well in my hand and has a non-slip plastic surface. And at such a low cost - I would have paid the same amount for a single brush, but you get two for the same price. I would strongly suggest it.
Soft and hard bristles combine to make a nice brush. Washing potatoes or tomatoes is a breeze with this method. It would be better if the eye picker on the brush was made of metal rather than plastic, or if it had a more scooped shape.
I bought these brushes because the veggie brush I had been using for years had worn out and I needed to replace it. These brushes have quickly become my favorites!! They're easy to handle and hold. The various brushes perform admirably for the various tasks I require. Cleaning cucumbers, removing small stickers, and scrubbing carrots and beets, for example, are all made easier with the stiffer brushes. The softer bristles are ideal for tomatoes, eggplant, and potatoes because they do not cause any damage to the delicate skins. It was nice to get two in a package because I have one saved for later and the one I'm using right now isn't going to wear out any time soon. It's a tough piece. My husband has larger hands than I do, and he enjoys the ease with which he can hold and manipulate them. This purchase has exceeded my expectations.
It's still taking some time for me to adjust. The bristles on one side of the brush (the majority of them) are soft, while the bristles on the other side are supposed to be stiffer. Potato eyes can be poked out with a plastic tip. However, since I don't do that, I'm not sure how useful it is. Maybe it's because this is a new method that I miss my old handled vegetable brush. I'm not giving up on them just yet. If new information becomes available, I will gladly update my reviews. I usually run my brushes through the dishwasher once in a while to keep them as clean as possible, but I haven't done so with these yet. Let's see how things turn out. The top is made of plastic that is black in color. The bristles are gray and black in color and have a plastic-like feel to them.
There aren't any real complaints. I don't bother with the little eye remover because it fits in my hand and my husband's. It's easy to use and effective. That is why I have knives. I've had it for months and it's still going strong, even after canning 18 quarts of small red potatoes and 50 pounds of apples. In addition, the kitchen is used frequently. Switch between left and right hands with ease.
Scrubbing potatoes with these is a breeze. The bristles are stiff (on the white side), but not hard, and have done an excellent job of removing dirt from my potatoes. In fact, my sweet potatoes' peels have been lightly scrubbed away, which is ideal for me. I haven't used them on fruit, but one side has grey bristles that would be used to scrub fruit because they are softer. I have arthritis in both hands, but the brushes are easy to hold and use. It's a good collection. 2 brushes are included in the package. Once these wear out, which will be a long time, they are definitely worth buying again.
With my arthritis, I like how the brush fits in my hand and how easy it is to use; however, the stiff bristles could be stiffer. Overall, it's a fantastic system.
