It's smooth and doesn't leave a mark on dough, but it's not as shiny or slick as some other plastic ones. It's similar to the silicone mats that are used on baking sheets.
This is not something I use in the oven. I only use it to mix and roll dough on the table.
Yes, this non-slip silicone pastry mat can be used on a wooden surface.br>br> Thank you very much. br>br>
After I've placed my dough on the silicone mat, I cut it with a metal dough cutter/scraper. Then, after I've finished making my bread or dinner rolls, I use the metal scraper to collect any loose flour on the mat before wiping it clean with a sponge. The mat appears to be thick and durable, and I have no difficulty using the metal cutter. I like the mat because it keeps my dough from sticking to it - It stays in place on the table after being lightly floured and does not slide around while I work with the dough. On my table, I was using clear wrap, which was a pain to work with. I wish I'd purchased the mat earlier. It meets my expectations to a tee.

I'll never make bread, dough, or anything else that requires rolling out or kneading again. without the use of a mat Every year, for Christmas gifts, I make braided bread. It's actually quite enjoyable - I take a week off work to bake, bake, bake. I tried to make things a little easier for clean-up this year. I bought two of these so I wouldn't have to use the counter, which is tiled and can be difficult to sterilize and clean after. I'm so happy I did. Not only did it make the cleaning process go more smoothly - but it also made the whole process more enjoyable. it like . Because it "grabs" the dough, I only need a small amount of flour to keep it from sticking to the rolling pin when I'm rolling it out. I'm not sure if this is true of all pastry mats - This one, on the other hand, was a complete success. I also made tortillas because I had the dough-grabbing mat and didn't feel so clumsy attempting to manage the rolling out process. Regardless. br>br> This is a fantastic size, nice and large, and I'm very happy with the mat's quality. I used a pizza cutter to cut through my Christmas bread dough and it didn't leave any marks. It handled the pizza cutter like a pro, despite the fact that the instructions say not to use a knife. I bought two of them and am confident that they will serve me well for many years to come - I've already put it to good use. I'll be making pie crusts from scratch and other things I wouldn't have attempted before because I can't seem to get the dough to behave. br>br>I'm going to buy one for each of my family members as a gift because I know they'll enjoy it as much as I do (don't tell them, it's a surprise). br>br>Excellent buy. I would strongly suggest it.
I'm a bread baker with a passion for the craft. I knead and shape my dough on this mat. It's ideal: it's large, it fits the counter perfectly, and it adheres to the surface. It will not slide or move, making it ideal for kneading dough. It cleans completely with just a damp paper towel, so it's close to perfect, but not quite. Things don't stick to silicone, which explains why it's so easy to clean. I give it a quick wipe and roll it up. When you unroll it the next time, it will lay perfectly flat. It's more expensive than the other mats, but it's twice as thick and perfect for making bread.
My Tupperware mat had started to show signs of wear and tear. I use it a lot and it shows, so I was looking for a new one. Since they are no longer available, I decided to take a chance on this one. A different silicone mat was purchased, but it was so thin that it could only be used as a pan liner and not as a roling/kneeding mat. br>br>I took a chance and was not let down! It's pleasant once you've gotten used to it; the extra large is truly extra large. It was a little sticky and smelly at first, but most of it washed away quickly, and what was left has dissipated. I wouldn't use a knife on it to divide or cut dough, but it appears to be durable enough to last a long time; we'll see if it outlasts Tupperware. It's going to be difficult to follow in their footsteps! br>br>Dough does not appear to adhere well to the mat- even if only a light dusting of flour is applied Cutting the dough to fit pie pans is aided by using concentric circle guides. When you dampen the counter with a wet washcloth, the mat adheres to the surface and does not slide or budge! Happy. I haven't tried it in the oven as a cookie sheet liner. Most likely not.
This eyeliner is absolutely stunning! Thick, non-stick, and high-quality. We searched high and low for one this LARGE to fit beneath our Instant Pots on our glass stovetop. It's simple to wipe up, roll up, and transport. I've also used it to make pastries, and it's fantastic. I'm going to get a few more of these!.
I used to have one made by Tupperware that I never used because once it's rolled up, you can't keep it down without weighing it down on the ends, and it moved around when I put it on the table to test it. When you open it up, it rolls out flat and stays flat on my quartz counter. It appeals to me. Since she had it, my sister also recommended it to me. I bought the blue because she had the red. She recently taught me how to make homemade apple pies, and I'm excited to try it!.
I started baking more this year, and I finally gave in and bought it. I'm so glad I took the chance! I had no idea how many things I cooked or baked required scrubbing and disinfecting the work surface both before and after, until the silicone pad was still clean from the previous use, and I only had to do it after. Furthermore, nothing is permanent! For sticky cookie dough, this is a huge plus, and the size makes cleanup a breeze. This was an excellent purchase that I would strongly recommend.
Not quite "Extra Thick," in my opinion. I was looking for a thick mat. This mat isn't any thicker than a Walmart mat I picked up off the shelf for less money. Something about 1/8 inch thick was what I was looking for. This should have been a lot thicker, according to the mm to inch conversion chart. It's less than 1/32 of an inch, according to my calculations. If you're looking for a thicker mat, I wouldn't recommend this one; the product description is misleading, and buyers in the United States should be given inches instead of millimeters.
When I'm using a smaller oven, such as my Roccbox, the circle guides help me stay on track. Overall, this is an excellent mat, and the large size helps to contain my mess. I've used this mat a few dozen times now, and I don't think I'll ever stop using it.
