Sasa Demarle, Inc. sells silicone-covered baking mats with a fiberglass mesh core under the brand name Silpat. These appear to be made entirely of silicone and are of a different brand. On the Foodal, there's an interesting article. If anyone is interested, there is a website at com that breaks down the differences between silicone baking mats.
It was no problem for me to overlap them by about 2 inches.
Because it's oven safe up to 480°F, the outside of your toaster oven is unlikely to get hot enough to harm it, especially if you only use it at temperatures above 450°F. However, I'd prefer to store it somewhere less susceptible to dust and splatters. I do, in fact; I store them with the cookie sheets and sheet pans in the oven's range drawer.

I bake a lot of bread, so I needed a baking mat that could withstand high oven temperatures in a dutch oven while also separating easily from the bread, unlike parchment paper. After reading a few reviews about the mats smoking in the oven, I baked them for one hour at 480 degrees F on a cookie sheet. They smoked for about half an hour in the kitchen, emitting a foul odor, before gradually ceasing to smoke. The mats held up well in this temperature, so I recommend pre-heating them. Before using them, bake them in the oven. To fit into my proofing bread basket, I also cut them with scissors. There was no sticking or burned crust on the mats, so there was no need to use any more parchment paper. If they didn't smoke the first time they went into the oven, I'd give them five stars. Why doesn't the vendor bake them after they've been manufactured and shipped to customers?.
They're fantastic for non-stick surfaces. We made homemade cinnamon rolls, which came off easily but had an odd odor. So I washed and dried them before returning them to the oven for another 15 minutes. It was unpleasant to smell them. Then, when I opened the oven door, a foul cloud emerged. I'll give them back to you!.
Both times I used these, they came out of the oven smoking, which triggered my smoke alarm. I'd be concerned about chemicals leaching into my food as a result of the smoke. br>I gave them two stars because, despite the foregoing, they are non-toxic. Stick to my baking sheets, are easy to clean, and are the perfect size for them. However, because of their reaction in my oven, I've decided to stop using them and return to parchment paper.
These are incredible! I'd heard good things about reusable baking mats, but I wasn't sure if they actually worked or if they made food soggy on the bottom. They, thankfully, function flawlessly. I made cinnamon rolls for the first time with them, and they were by far the best cinnamon rolls I've ever made. Regardless of what I use, the bottoms are always burned by the time the top portion is ready. These mats ensured that everything cooked evenly and that there were no burnt or soggy bottoms. I'm overjoyed to have found something useful and reusable.
Grease from cookies got through the mat, so I had to wash the top of the mat, the bottom of the mat, and both the mat and the pan. This is my first time using silicone baking mats, but after consulting with friends, I learned that they should not be porous and should only need to be wiped down after use (not both sides).
Great little silicon mats, which I used to make some handy burner liners for my gas stove.
The other is on the verge of losing his job. I would only recommend these to non-smokers. foods that are fatty They're incredibly difficult to clean if you cook anything greasy on them, such as baked chicken wings. Despite my best efforts, I scrub these things to death, wipe them dry, and then pull them out of the drawer to use again, they're slimy and greasy. I'm not sure, but I'm considering reverting to nonstick aluminum foil at this point. These are excellent for baking. br>br> I use them all the time as long as I'm not cooking anything too oily or greasy; it saves me time and keeps the pan underneath from getting too dirty. Grease will leak through anything particularly greasy, so keep this in mind. br>br>Cleaning is simple. However, you must wash them with soap rather than simply rinsing them.
My previous set lasted several years, and I'm hoping these will last at least as long. They eliminate the need for you to clean your baking sheets. I simply lay down a piece of tin foil, place the baking mat on top, and I'm good to go.
