Cutting through bone requires a special knife. Cutting through bone with a knife is never a good idea. To do so, you'll need a band saw. Knives pierce the cartilage and joints. If you try to cut the bone, you'll end up crushing it into shards at best. In the worst-case scenario, you'll dull, damage, or break the knife.br>br>Moreover, cleavers aren't meant for cutting meat. That has never been the case. Cleavers are used to prepare hard vegetables and roots. Meat is cut with scimitar knives, which are long, slim, and curved. Cleavers are the worst knives to use when carving and butchering.

This knife is a bada$$ in every way. It has the ideal weight-to-sharpness ratio, allowing it to cut through any obstacle. I can't say enough good things about this product! All of your meats will be butta-cut!.
Okay, I'll be honest with you, my only cleaver experience prior to this was with a $15 Walmart one. I'm sure you're thinking, "Wow, that's a lot Needless to say, as someone who keeps an eye on Dalstrong releases (I've had nothing but positive experiences with nearly everything I've ever bought from them), I was overjoyed to see this go up. As I previously stated, I was in desperate need of a useful cleaver, and Dalstrong has delivered once again. br>br>According to some early reviews from when this knife was first released, it appears that many people received one that wasn't as sharp as they'd come to expect from Dalstrong knives. Given the recent review trend, I'd say this is a kink they've worked out. So, if you're reading this, you can expect these knives to arrive ready to cleave through anything you throw at them right out of the box. If you happen to be the one in a million who is the exception, you should know that Dalstrong's customer service is top-notch. If you're not happy, you can bet that someone else at work isn't either, and it's their job to make things right. br>br>As for the knife I got, I've been using it for about a month now, not nearly as much as some of the more general-purpose knives, but here's what I've noticed so far: 1. br>br> The black finish is both practical and fashionable. Yes, this thing will look great in any kitchen, but will it function properly? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes The coating shows no signs of wear, and with a little TLC, it's still as sharp as the day I bought it. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br The grip is vastly underappreciated. Maybe I've been reading the wrong reviews, but there aren't nearly enough people praising the cleaver's grip. You can hold it in whatever way feels most comfortable to you, but it will never slip. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. For cleavers, this should be the industry standard size. There are different types of cleavers. I've seen teeny-tiny ones as well as ones the size of my head. What is the best way to figure out what size is best for you? Easy, just buy it and don't think about it again. br>br>To summarize, if you're looking for a cleaver, this should be at the very least one of your final considerations. With just the cleaver, there are far too many benefits. When it comes to the brand, let's just say that in the modern era, there aren't many companies that compare to Dalstrong. They care about you more than they care about your money. Always keep that in mind.
You really like this knife but can't justify purchasing it, so you're reading reviews to see if it's worth it? br>br>Here's your sign, then. IT'S A MUST FOR YOU. br>br>To be honest, because of its size, it has a bit of a learning curve. It takes some practice to figure out how to hold it, how to cut different things, and so on, but it's a joy to use. I feel like a magical barbarian in my favorite video game as soon as I pick it up, about to feast on a monster I've defeated. (Despite the fact that I've only had it for a day and have only cut pepperoni, a watermelon, and a single tomato so far. ) )br>br>I can't say enough good things about the customer service; I had a problem with my knife and sent them an e-mail; they promptly responded. They responded almost immediately with a fix after I sent them an email through their website. Incredibly kind, and they mean it when they say they want you 100% satisfied with their product.
This cleaver is seriously awesome, and it looks great right out of the box. It has a nice weight to it and feels good in your hand. The blade is razor-sharp, and the finish is long-lasting and simple to clean. The Shadow Black series is quickly becoming one of my go-to knives on a daily basis.
I couldn't wait to try out the cleaver, which arrived this morning. br>First and foremost, the design and construction are stunning; the handle is comfortable in both large and small hands. br>The handle rests comfortably in the hand. The grip was excellent and very secure, whether wet, with vinyl or nitrile gloves on, or slimy from chicken juices. The sharpness of the blade is, however, the best part. It was razor sharp right out of the box, and I was able to clean shave some of the hairier areas of my arm. However, after slicing through some chicken and chopping up some onion, squash, zucchini, and tomato, the blade lost its razor sharpness, but it is still razor sharp. There's nothing that a little honing won't fix. Overall, I'm pleased with the cleaver, and I'm thinking about purchasing the rest of the Shadow series. br>My opinions may change after a few months of tinkering with it, but for now, I am satisfied.
I've never used a knife as sharp as this one. It still feels as sharp as day one after 5 tritips trimmed and diced, 3 briskets, a lot of chicken meat diced as well, and tons of hard cheddar, and I love slamming this guy into the food. Because I'm an armature, I'm afraid to hone and sharpen it because I don't want to damage the coating. In comparison to bare steel, this coating nearly repels water.
My wife and I decided to give this cleaver a try; it's a shame she never got to use it, but I can tell you from personal experience that it cuts VERY well; my wife would be furious if she found out I used it without her.
Is there anything you need to cleave? That'll be taken care of by this big, heavy cleaver. I've only used it to chop vegetables so far, but based on how well it handled them, I'm confident it'll handle most anything I need to cleave. It's quite front or blade heavy, but that's to be expected given its appearance. It is easy to hold and use the handle. Because this is my first cleaver, I don't have any comparable knives to compare it to, but it has exceeded all of my expectations thus far.
