Starrett 385-48 Steel Straight Edge With Bevel, 48" Length, 2-13/32" Width, 7/32" Thickness

Due to a short 24" bed on my long jointer bed, I bought this one. Additionally, I wanted to use this in order to make my router inserts flush with my table saw wing and right wing. The straight edge is as flat as it is advertised, but it exhibits a visible bow. In spite of the fact that bowing doesn't affect flatness, I find it hard to put a feeler gauge on it when it's laid diagonally on a table saw or any other surface that isn't flat. The quality of Starrett's products should be better. It is unreasonable to expect any issues with such an expensive tool.

It is a good investment for a lifetime to own a Starrett straight edge. You can rest assured that your accuracy is 100% with a few extra dollars up front. It is a delicate instrument, so handle it with care. Keep your feet on the ground. When not in use, make sure that it is safely kept in a box. There is nothing better than making sure that your machine setups are happy. Amazon has a good deal on this item.

During our recent purchase, we received the wrong part. We were given a Starret Steel with a 24 inch length rather than 48 inch length.
