Starrett 380-48 48-Inch Steel Straight Edge

For someone like myself who is more of a hobbyist, it is difficult to justify, but I am thrilled to have a benchmark so well known. It is wonderful to have it, and I am sorry I waited so long for it. It's one of the most accurate things in my shop, so I can't be certain of its accuracy. The reason I purchased a Starrett is because of this. Prior to this, I was struggling to contend with a two-year old I am not able to walk on my foot The straight-forward way There are edges. It would probably be good to do so. As a jointer tester, I use it to ensure that the jointer is working properly. For a long time, I hesitated to purchase this item because of the price, and I felt that I could get by with a straight edge from a woodpecker. This would be easier for me, but I can do it easily. Using it for this task is the right decision. The feeler gauge is on edge, and it works like a woodpecker, except it stands on edge. Besides being heavy, the edges are very sharp and the weight is uncomfortable. Of course, it is all by design, but it is not something that can be easily accessed - I am left-handed. I think it was a great investment in the end.

I decided to buy steel over aluminum and Starrett over the others, but it was delivered in a bowed piece of cottonwood, not the crate that others mention it's shipped in. When I unwrapped it, I saw that the straight edge was also bowed (a big Despite being heavy and technically as straight as anything else on the market, it is unusable. This is a sign of incredibly poor quality control on Starrett's part. The packaging was ruined after all the time and effort they took to machine it. I am surprised that they would take the time.

Despite its simplicity, it is made well. To make sure it becomes available in the same condition as when it left the factory, the product is shipped in a wooden cradle.

For a while, I put off purchasing this, but now that I do, I use it almost everyday. Long straightedges can help you avoid mistakes. You will never be disappointed. Shipped on a flat piece of pine that I use to store it, it is shipped on a piece of pine that has been milled flat. The tool is one you can have a lot of faith Do not let it get out of your control.

To set up my jointer, I purchased this straight edge for use as a straight edge. I have been very pleased with what it has enabled me to accomplish. My experience has been that Amazon is the least expensive seller I have found and they are a reliable source to buy from. The product I purchased was highly recommended by me, and I would buy it.
