Questions & Answers

As a guide for a circular saw (for example, for cutting plywood), would this screed work well?

The purpose of my purchase was to use it as a guide while working in my workshop, a tool that I could always rely on. Using clamps, I have used it as a fence for my portable circular saw, as a block for a custom table saw with a 16 5/8" blade (a beam saw turned upside down), as a layout ruler, and Therefore, the clamps were not going to distort the bar, since I reinforced the insides of the hollow ends with blocks of wood.

Is it heat-resistant? Can a propane torch be used on it? During the torching process, this will be used as a straight edge to serve as a barrier?

This will happen, according to me. If I wanted to use a full flame of the blue torch on it, I couldn't do it for more than A quarter of an inch thick appears to be the aluminum thickness. A hollowed out structure is present as well. You might find 1/4" angle iron to be more appropriate for your application, as it is heavier, but it is heat-resistant. I think this bon is a great tool, but don't mistake me. As a concrete screed (as a straight edge), it is very strong and light, but I can see how the heat could cause it to warp over time. But I suppose it could be done.

The end cap should have two ends, or is it supposed to only have There may be a missing item in ?

Each end should have a cap. All of them were capped at both ends when I bought the set.

Do you think this method will work on a 10 foot run if I need to mark a straight line which needs to be perfectly straight?

The answer will be yes if you get the 10 foot version. In its place, however, use a chalk line. There will be no deviation from the straight line.

One of the pieces is missing
3/5

It is disappointing that only one of the plastic end caps arrived with this item. As soon as I opened my screed I saw a large red sticker, as if it had been returned or marked as missing pieces, but the order went through While the quality appears to be good, it's difficult to provide a good review when one of the items does not arrive.

The cement will not stick to it at all
3/5

Such a horrible screed has never been used before. As soon as concrete touched it, it stuck immediately and was very difficult to remove. Rather than spending money on it, buy a 2x4 and cut it yourself.

An edge that is perfectly straight
5/5

A few years ago I bought this 8' screed (1916) to use as a straight edge for cutting It is perfectly straight over its entire 8' length, so perhaps I have a good eye for such things. When a four-foot straight edge is slid along it, it does not bow in or out when it is straight. Furthermore, there is a difference of less than 0. 5% in its width. From top to bottom, the piece measures 001" long. Such a high quality straight edge costs hundreds of dollars if you buy it spec'd.

This product is good for its purpose, but is missing an It was missing one end cap, but I had to choose whether to keep it or return would have been senseless to send the cap back when all we had to do was return it

There is no end cap on the dividers
3/5

It is my third order of this product and I am very pleased with it It was missing an end cap (or caps) all three times. You can still get a good product with this if you don't mind the end caps being missing.

A new quality cannot be defined as such
3/5

As it was delivered, the first one was bent with a kink in one part of it. It also looked as if it had just been tossed The top of the dog was covered in scratches and black barks. In addition, the second one is still bent and has eaten up the end caps. It was originally planned to buy the 8ft, but now that I see how small it is, I can only imagine how big it would be.

A great value for your money! This is a great implementation
4/5

Mostly, I use it for straightening when I need it, and for that purpose, it works well. Additionally, I use it as a screed, and I am very satisfied with its performance. One slight complaint I have is the rubber end caps on the tool are My plan is to replace the stock end caps with epoxy and chuck the stock end caps. It is generaly a very good tool at a very good.

I like it
5/5

I use these for long pours of concrete. I also use them to do flat work on a driveway or walkway using a big straight edge after finishing using a big straight edge on the side were you have a form.
