Instead of his 7-inch Speed square, I'm going to use mine. Great packaging, prompt delivery, and a Product Satisfaction Guarantee card were sent to me by the seller.
br>There are numerous blemishes, some of which are leftover yellow paint spots and others which are black paint chips; I'm not sure why it was painted rather than anodized. br>The yellow paint used for the logo isn't uniform. Neither the thin nor the thick side is flat or straight; they are both bent, albeit slightly. In comparison to a cheese grater, the backside has more sharp edges. br>I haven't double-checked the Engravings for accuracy, but they should be good enough for basic carpentry.
It's well-made, easy to read for my achy eyes, and the price is reasonable in comparison to other sellers. One thing that disappointed me was the lack of accuracy. It was a tenth of an inch off. Contractors may not think this is a big deal, but I'm a woodworker, not a contractor. I strive for perfection, and if I get off to a bad start, it's not going to help me get close by the end of the project. br>I purchased this for boards wider than 6 inches. It appears that I will not be using this one for any projects.
As if it were a metal square to aid me in my DIY endeavors. It's not a drag. (I give it a lot of credit).
Although it is made of aluminum, it is quite heavy. I used to have a 12 inch plastic monitor. It was a good piece of gear that I relied on all the time until I tripped over it. CRACK! I'm confident that this one will not break. This is something I would strongly advise anyone to do.
This isn't quite square. The price of this tool is comparable to that of the Empire and Milwaukee brands. It isn't as well-made, and it isn't nearly as accurate. It'll suffice for rough framing, but if you need something more precise, go with the Empire or Milwaukee brands. br>I gave mine back. br>br>Pros: br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>The quality of the construction is inferior to that of competitors. There are no machined edges on this piece. br>The 90-degree angle is correct, but the 45-degree angles are nearly 1 degree off. br>In contrast to others, the "pivot" is not rounded (more precise). br>Instead of being laser etched, the markings are painted.
The square is very precise and well-made. The "corners" have a lot of definition. Each corner should be rounded, at the very least. The 12" limit is NOT A PROBLEM because no one should ever use a square as a ruler. Rounding the edges would require an additional step (and cost). It only took two minutes, but I believe IT MUST BE DONE. You'll cut yourself on those sharp corners eventually. (I've done it with other tools as well!) ) Arrived in good condition and at a good price.
