This is a sturdy square that will come in handy for the occasional woodworker. If this were my livelihood, I'd stock a much larger one, but for small DIY projects and regular home modifications, etc. , this is a good size that fits well in any toolbox.
I'm not a professional builder, but I enjoy tinkering with things around the house. I recommend watching the video at the bottom of this review if you're unfamiliar with speed squares. Even if you aren't building rafters, which I doubt most people are, this is a useful tool to have in your toolbox because it is sturdy, has clear and easy-to-read markings, and is notched at the appropriate increments for scribing lines. I've used it to scribe lines, mark angles, and guide my circular saw - it's a great tool. It saves me time and ensures that my cuts are always straight; it's lightweight and not too bulky, and the lip keeps it firmly attached to the wood. There are no issues!

A shade off 90 degrees / 100% inaccurate; It's close enough for rough carpentry, but not for making furniture.
I use this square a lot in my carpentry and woodworking projects because I need to make a lot of quick right angle cuts. My go-to tool for getting my butt joints to look how I want them to.
Dewalt is my brand of choice. I went out and bought a Dewalt speed square. It's simple to read, and it does what it's supposed to do. It accomplishes the goal. Is it better or worse than other brands? No, they all pretty much do the same thing.
In terms of rafter squares, this one works just as well as any other. I haven't gone far enough to see how accurate the measurements are, but they should be fine for my purposes; one future issue might be how well the white labels and lines hold up. These aren't etched, but rather "painted," and I can see them peeling away over time, rendering the square useless for anything other than a right angle. br>br>It's also worth noting that mine came with a couple of dings in the metal.
It's lightweight, long-lasting, simple to read, and the perfect size for most projects. However, there are two issues with it that I would like to address. The first flaw was a slanted end. Second, the marks are slightly off from one side to the next, so I can only use the square on one side when making them precise; otherwise, they're great! I'm hoping that you'll have better luck with yours.
It's a lot easier to read, and it looks great. It contains a lot of information, and you won't be able to remember all of the tricks unless you use it frequently.
