When I think of it, I think of the Czech Republic. I keep my 4-inch in the pocket of my apron and use it frequently.

These are also known as Engineer's squares, and they're fantastic. You don't realize how many different degrees of "square" there are until you have one. Speed squares and framing squares are similar, but it's a fluke if you have one that's exactly 90 degrees. I re- I used the Kinex to set up my saws, and now I can cut precise 90s. It's amazing how much better things fit when the word "square" actually means "square. ".
I had problems with this square right out of the box; the surface was oily, and the blade had visible bumps of grime; I had to clean it with mineral spirits, which was an unnecessary step. The blade had scratches and lines on closer inspection, as if it had come from a sloppy belt sander job. br>br>Then, on closer inspection, the blade had scratches and lines, as if it had come from a sloppy belt sander job. The blade's edges were rounded as well! It's ridiculous. The rounded edge made it look like there was a gap where there wasn't, and made it impossible to find a gap where there was. I was using this to try to square my table saw blade, but I couldn't tell if I was getting closer because there wasn't a sharp edge to reference against. br>br>It drew lines okay, but I wasn't happy with it before this: br>br>I once dropped this square from a height of approximately 2 feet. Nothing out of the ordinary, something that everyone has undoubtedly done before: the square bent, not something minor like 0. For a 4" blade, the thickness is OVER 1/8". I measured the angle with a digital angle indicator, which read 92 degrees. The temperature is at 4 degrees. br>br>I threw it out and replaced it with an Incra Guaranteed square. I recommend that you do the same. It isn't worth the trouble. Buy cheap, then buy again, as the old adage goes.
I'm surprised Kinex squares don't have more Amazon reviews. When compared to the rest of my squares, mine is dead on accurate. 2 blocks. It's difficult to beat for the price. I'll be picking up a few more sizes in the near future. Also, I recently purchased a Kinex protractor angle finder, which is just as accurate and well-made as this square.
I'm not a machinist, but I've bought several of these squares for woodworking, and they've all been dead on accurate, unlike the cheap ones I bought locally. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a square, but after seeing Adam Savage's video, I knew I had to give these a shot.
These Kinex squares are well-made and durable. I double-checked the inside and outside edges against a couple of other precise squares and found that they were both dead-on. As an added bonus, they don't come with some crappy plastic case that I'd have to pay for and then throw away. These squares are a steal for less than $20, and they're built to the manufacturer's tolerances.
I've only had this square in my apron pocket for three weeks, but it's already become a staple. It's been used to mark wood for cutting as well as ensure that tools, blades, and other items are square and aligned. The solidity and quality of construction pleasantly surprised me. In this day and age of cheap, flimsy tools, this is a huge plus.
All good. The package was well-packaged and arrived quickly. I've been using it for woodworking and comparing it to my other larger squares, and it appears to be accurate. It's the right size and appears to be well made for what I needed. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to others.
