In woodworking, metalworking, machining, and pattern-making, this tool is used to measure holes, slots, grooves, and recesses.

For quick checking of holes, slots, and recesses up to 6" deep, use this double-action rigid handle with self-centering feature.

Gage expands in a hole to be measured (locks in place, then removed to determine final hole size with a micrometer or calipers).

They work well for the price; they are cheap and have a few flaws, but they work well enough to hold after 5 minutes of work

For the money, I've seen a lot worse. After you clean up the locking mechanism on the ends, you should be able to pull a consistent measurement from them.

These are some excellent instruments. They hold their shape well and are comfortable to wear. When I first got them, they were a little crunchy, but a little oil went a long way in softening them up. I'm confident that they'll be of good service to me for a long time.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to spend more money on a set. It will keep the measurement until you let go of it. Simple.
