The tool that is broken is one of three. It is very difficult to do quality control. As soon as I got this set, I made the mistake of opening the pouch and trying out the smaller ones. It all seemed fine, so I put the tools in my tool box and considered my purchase a success. The T frame is too small for the plungers in the largest piece of the set that I used a few days ago and the plungers fell right out of it. There was a problem with the thumb screw not tightening, and the plunger and springs behind them no longer stayed in As it has already been over 30 days since the sale, I am at a loss as to how I can get the broken piece replaced, unless the seller is sympathetic to my dissatisfaction with their poor quality control. In other words, bear in mind that you're paying for a 6-piece set, but it's likely that you'll only get a few functional tools and not an entire.
The only way to get better at that is to practice!.
These are straight from the big rock candy mountain of Mao. An industrial park where trees grow industrial equipment. It's not bad at all to use these snap bore gauges. )/10/10 cheapo, one-shot solution.
As other reviewers have said, this is a decent set for the price. The ends are well machined, although I will probably sand one (of 12) to eliminate some machining marks that wouldn't necessarily A small amount of lateral play is present in the sliding mechanism that mostly disappears when the stop is tightly secured. In order to make 1/1000" accuracy claims, these might be fine, but I would not count on them.
What is precision? Yeah, you can probably get decent results with this gage set, but man, I hate to move the telescoping portion in and out because it feels like I'm grinding pieces from it. There doesn't seem to be much precision to it at all, it just feels like poor tolerance.
You should simply buy a real bore caliper if you need to use these more than once in a blue moon. The smallest one fell to pieces when I extracted it from the packaging. The spring and a tip flew all over the place. The price is rather steep, what are you supposed to get for it.
There is no tangle or jerk with any of the gauges. A smooth radius end is evident on all radiuses. It's fine for what they're supposed to be used for. Using this type of gauge correctly requires mastering micrometer measurement techniques, followed by learning how to read the locked gauge. To do this, you need a very fine touch Make sure you get accurate results with a bore and micrometer!.
They are good for the price. The quality of the service is certainly not Starrett, and you get what Although they did the job well, you can't trust them to be right on the first try.
