For regrinding my lathe gouges, I used these to set the rest on my grinder. Having these angle gauges allows me to set the rest consistently to the contact with the wheel as I try different profiles. Although they are a little on the small side, they do the job for me, and allow me to set these angles quickly and easily.

In a nutshell The gauge would allow me to hand-grind a HSS tool bit with a 40 degree angle. It worked perfectly, but accuracy would have been better with a magnifying lens. Two thumbs up! This set will last for a lifetime.
