To fasten the temporary fuel line, you may want to use fuel injector type hose clamps. That is what I used to reduce my temporary rubber fuel line from 5/16 to 3/8.

There was some room for improvement on the 1/2" side, as the stated size is on the small side

It was close enough to a hose measuring 1/2inch in ID, but not tight enough for hose clamp to work.

As I was looking for a specific size, this was ideal. Based on the size listed, it appears the barb is the widest point, not the actual ID of the hose that you will be using the barb on. It needed to be larger than my fuel hose to ensure that it fit tight on the diesel fuel line that I was attempting to install a bunk heater on. It works great, and my heater is working now because of.

In other words, it was a perfect fit. For my Ryobi generator, I ordered a new fuel tank. I have noticed that it is different from the previous design. A larger line needed to be adapted to my fuel line. It fits and no leaks have occurred since.
