Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
With the L298N as the main chip, the dual-channel H-bridge driver works more efficiently. One 2-phase stepper motor, one 4-phase stepper motor, or two DC motors can all be driven with this controller.
When using more than 12V driving voltage, please use an external 5V logic supply to avoid damaging the voltage stabilizing chip.
Increase the reliability of your circuit by using large-capacity filter capacitors and a diode with freewheeling protection.
High working voltage of 35 volts, large current of 3 amps maximum and 2 amps continuous, power of 25 watts
Filter capacitance with a large capacity, as well as an afterflow protection diode, make the system more stable and reliable.

This product has primarily one great positive and one well-known negative
3/5

br>br>First and foremost, the great positive about these motor drivers is their ease of use. This thing will work wonders if you connect it to a power supply and two small DC motors. While controlling the small 5V, 0A load, there appeared to be no issues at all. The Arduino starter kit includes a 20 amp DC motor. The resolution of analogWrite() was excellent. Those small motors, I believe, will not be able to go much higher than 0. This motor driver appears to be suitable because it draws 35 amps when loaded. The voltage drop between the source and the motor is a minor drawback of these motor drivers. The potential difference between the motor leads was around 8V, while the power supply leads had a potential difference of 12V. All of this energy is wasted as heat, which causes the driver to overheat. br>br>The biggest drawback is the false advertising of currents up to 2 amps. I purchased a slightly larger DC motor that draws 1. 25 amps when unloaded. (Measured with a multimeter) 8 amps The L298N heated up so much that touching the heat sink for more than a second hurt. Of course, the driver failed and thermally shut down after about 15 seconds, as it reached threshold operating temperatures. And that was only with ONE of the two lines it could have used. I put it to the test with a very large propeller acting as a cooler, and the motor driver was able to work for longer periods of time (30 minutes). 60s); When forced convection is turned on, the heat sink does some work. However, once I plugged in the second motor and put about 4 Amps through it, it could only run for about 5 seconds before the heat sink became too hot to touch. I was still running the driver according to the manufacturer's specifications, and it only lasted 5 seconds before thermally shutting down, which means you'll have to wait at least another 30 seconds before you can use it again. br>br>If you want to use this driver with DC motors, I strongly advise you to use motors with a maximum torque of 0. When fully loaded, it draws 5 amps (especially if both channels are used). If you go over this limit, the driver will overheat and break down. Spend a little more money on a better motor driver for higher currents.

Although the driver module functions, the IC becomes extremely hot
4/5

This worked fine for a stepper motor project I was working on with an Arduino, but the driver IC got extremely hot after a while. I used a bipolar stepper motor with a rating of. 8 amps on a 6 amp circuit Windings with a resistance of 8 ohm. I'm using a 24VDC power supply to run the driver. The on-board 5VDC output of this driver is very useful for powering the Arduino. br>I ended up removing the heatsink and mounting the driver IC to a larger aluminum heatsink that I machined. br>The IC gets very hot when used at low speeds for a long time. According to what I've read, a PWM driver would have been a better choice. br>At the very least, I have a backup in case the driver module fails. It's also very reasonably priced, so I can't say I'm complaining.

BEWARE: THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT IS FALSE
3/5

TLDR; Only suitable for small motors; does not work with NEMA 17br>br>I read that "large current can reach 3A MAX and continuous current is 2A. " I'm using a NEMA 17 stepper motor that only pulls one pound of torque. 5A, the motor can run for a solid 10 seconds after all of the wires are connected before the driver overheats and shuts itself off. I think this driver is fine if you're using a small motor. I'm only giving it one star because the product description is blatantly false. The motor should be alternating back and forth in the attached video. Instead, as the driver overheats and shuts down, the motor pauses at random points over time. The heatsink gets extremely hot as well, emitting a burning odor.

It's fantastic! These controllers are perfect for the 2A stepper motors I'm using on my photography track
5/5

While the chip heats up, the heatsink keeps the temperature well below the rated maximum. The controllers are simple to connect to power and to the stepper motor, and they cool quickly with just a little air movement, so I'll be using them with a small fan just to be safe. I work with a number nine. My Arduino board is powered by a 6 Volt rechargeable battery from my drill, which also allows me to use the controller's 5V supply voltage to power it.

For low-current motors, this method is ideal
5/5

As a result, they're ideal for low-current motors like the ones found in many beginner robot kits' plastic housings. It's also convenient that a microcontroller can be powered from the 5v line. These drivers are quite tough, as I was unable to kill them even when I pushed them beyond their rated limits. I was trying to use these to power four drill motors, each of which can only draw four amps. 5 amps. Two of them could be handled by the drivers, but not consistently. They did get quite hot and wouldn't power on the motors, but once they cooled down, they worked perfectly again. I'll save these for another smaller project, but I now need something more powerful. This is an excellent product.
