Would these work well with billet aluminum? I know it says aluminum bit, but billet aluminum is, if I'm not mistaken, harder than regular aluminum. ?

To the best of our knowledge, billet simply refers to a solid block of aluminum that is intended to be machined into a part, rather than cast aluminum, which is molded rather than machined. I'm not sure what a billet is, but I milled some lovely 7/16 slots out of 6061 aluminum. The edges are very nice, and there is no galling. For the price, these are excellent cutters.

Why are you preventing me from purchasing even a single 1/4in mill?

Listen to someone who has done a hundred of these in a commercial setting. It's all in the title. We had a lot of these running and would have probably kept them running if the price increase hadn't been so drastic. End mills made in the United States are a better value for the money. Garr is a higher-end end mill that will outlast the speed tigers 3 and costs $30 each from the right supplier. We've had a lot of them break and leave a bad finish after only a few uses; the early ones we ran at 300ipm, but the last ten packs we couldn't go faster than 120ipm without snapping. If it makes a difference, we can run Garr at 400ipm. Take a look at the image of the speed tigers that have been broken. In addition, if you have a problem with them, customer service is non-existent. It's a cheap end mill attempting to get a mod range price; however, these end mills aren't as good as Molza, which are only $13 each, so unless you need the extra cut depth, I strongly advise you to pass.

I needed to make some components for a Hub-related project. A BattleBot with a motor (as seen in the photo). I needed a small 1/8" end mill for my 1/4" CNC (MillRight CarveKing) router because the parts were for a small motor with small details. br>I bought these (SPEED TIGER IAUE 1/8" 3-SPEED TIGER IAUE 1-SPEED TIGER IAUE 1-SPEED TIGER IAUE 1- a flute Carbide Square End Mill for Aluminum Applications) (Amazon/Speed Tiger: a flute Carbide Square End Mill for Aluminum Applications a flute Carbide Square End Mill for Aluminum Applications Please re-read this. These should be on your list; they're fantastic). The picture shows the two parts I made (five of each); the total machining time was about 16 hours, and I used the same end mill for all of them. I pushed the tool to its limit, with 20mm of the tool protruding from the collet, and it came out as well as the first part. Because it was my first time machining two-dimensional shapes, I took it slowly. This is the first time I've seen sided aluminum parts that are this complicated. The following were my feed rates and speeds: The feedrate was 800 mm/min, the ramp was 400 mm/min, and the plunge was 20 mm/min, all with a 0. It's a hobbyist CNC machine, so the layer depth is only 5mm. These 1/8" bits, according to the Speed Tiger website, require a high speed (29,000rpm), which is ideal for router CNC'ers. I increased the speed of my router to its maximum of 27,000 RPM. br>I purchased the "Amana Tool - 1/8" End Mill" to fit the 1/8" end mill in my router's 1/4" chuck. I was cutting 0 on my small RF45 Clone CNC. WOC 050" 050" 050" 050" 050 In MIC6, 50" DOC (full depth on this specific part) at 75IPM. It sounded fantastic, and I'm sure there was room for more. I'm going to start lowering it to zero. Even with my crappy spindle and a lot of run out, I was able to achieve a WOC of 075". br>br>Recent changes: br>br> DOC was set to zero. br> 75" with a WOC of 0 075" at a scale of 0. 004IPT was built in 6061 T6 and performed admirably. It was about the limit of my little 2HP spindle, but I think I'll dial it back to 0. The next time I run that section, I'll use 0045IPT. in the name of science Overall, a fantastic hobby mill on a budget.

uBridgeport for slotting operation is a great cutter at this price point

This cutter was used to cut a deep slot in an aluminum plate. The cutter (3/8" dia. ) did an excellent job cutting the entire width. Per pass, the depth of cut is approximately 25" (power feed, not CNC). 003 for each tooth chip load I started the cut with a straight plunge and it worked fine, but if you have a CNC, I recommend using a ramping strategy. br>br>One cutter did 32 parts with over 72" of slotting in each part with no discernible wear, and the cutter was objectively as sharp as new (when I dropped it in a toolholder and broke it). Using a mist coolant system throughout the process and keeping it wet improved cut quality significantly. br>br>On the finish pass, chip evacuation was good, and the surface finish was excellent. I bought a few more just in case I needed them in the future. At this price, it's a fantastic cutter.

These end mills are fantastic! It's a little pricey, but it's well worth the money. I'm referring to the. machining 6061 aluminum with 1875" end mills: They are extremely sharp and stay that way for a long time, leave an excellent roughing and finishing finish, are extremely quiet, produce excellent chips, and the flute geometry extracts chips well. I'm going to buy more.

In 18 Gage aluminum, I'm machining holes. This end mill performs admirably! br>The previous end mill I used left a large burs on the finished part that I had to remove. br>This end mill cuts very cleanly with no de-burring required. burring. On 6061 aluminum, I use half-inch end mills. They're very good at cutting. I also use a Speed Tiger 1/8 end mill, which performs admirably. br>This is a fantastic product that is reasonably priced.

There's a reason why things are so cheap

At first glance, it appeared to be a good idea to machine 6061 t651 aluminum. When slowed to 40% of standard speeds for the tool in aluminum, vibrate violently at standard cutting speeds, poor finish quality is obtained. My machining center can only run at 300 sfpm. This problem is caused by improper edge relief angles.
