I was surprised by how well the installation went. The unit's flexible mesh sides make it easier to secure it to a non-porous surface. a chimney cap made of cement. The Gelco appealed to me because the hinged anchor plates could be hidden inside the mesh sides. As a result, I was able to order a larger size, with the lid overhanging the entire chimney by 1-inch. 1/2 inch all the way around (The lid has a 2-inch overhang on the mesh sides. ) 1/2 of an inch ) I also required the 12 inch height because my flues were 7 inches higher than the cement cap. Gelco had exactly what I was looking for, and the quality was excellent. A few pointers for do-it-yourself installers. br>br> I followed the instructions to the letter with no problems. However, the drill bit/hammer drill jumped on start up several times on the cement cap, compromising my hole placement slightly, and I should have started the hole with a pointed chisel instead. If you're using tapcon anchors, I recommend putting a small amount of masonry caulk or adhesive from the chimney cap people into the tapcon holes after blowing out the dust.
It's a fraction of the cost of hiring a roofing company to do the job. Spray painted black in a matter of minutes. It could be mounted on or outside of the chimney because of the 360 piano hinge. There are many different sizes to choose from. There's even a masonry bit and screws included.
I didn't care for the color, so I sprayed it black. The installation was simple, and it looks fantastic from above.
After seeing this product in person, I realized it would not work for me. I've been attempting to return it for more than two weeks and have yet to receive a response to any of my correspondence.
My chimney cap is now on the roof, thanks to your prompt service. It's the right size. I expect it to provide me with many years of excellent service. Thank you very much.
The item was reasonably priced, but it took a long time to arrive and was bent when it did. The item was damaged as a result of poor packaging. I didn't have time to return, so I fixed it as best I could and put it back together.
