Questions & Answers

Is it possible to replace the plastic wips, or do you need a new head?

Whips made of nylon or plastic can be easily replaced. You can either buy the manufacturer's replacements (see the product manual) or use 0. In Home Depot or other similar stores, you can buy a 105-inch nylon whip in bulk for grass/weed trimmers. Because my store didn't have this exact size in stock, I went with a heavier gauge line, which limits the number of strands that can be stuffed into the head. I hope this has been of assistance.

What's the best way to figure out how many extension rods I'll require? Is it all the way up to the top of the chimney on the outside?

You'll need enough extension rods to reach just over 1/2 of the height of your chimney if you can access it from both the bottom and top. The rods are bendable and can withstand minor twists. Because each rod is approximately 3' long, you can clean 18' of chimney with the standard kit by going from the bottom to the top. If necessary, order additional extension rods. NOTE - To clean the clothes dryer vent, I bought a Gardus cleaning kit. The amount of lint that remains in the vent line is amazing, but the rods in the dryer vent cleaner are the same as the rods in the chimney cleaner, and you get four rods. You will receive an additional 12' of extension rod if you purchase the Dryer Vent Cleaner Kit. It may be less expensive to purchase a kit rather than individual extension rods for chimney cleaning, and your clothes dryer will run more efficiently.

Is it possible to use different brushes with the cleaning rods? What size are the rod ends, and are they M or F?

They're 1/4" thread, I believe. When using larger brushes, be aware that the rods may not be capable of handling the torque required to spin the brush.

Is there a brush that goes on the rods in a standard style? The diameter of my chimney cap is less than that of my chimney. The cap isn't cleaned by whipping it. ?

The RCH205 is a type of RCH. B only uses the whip line, but you could also use the SLK- 24 is a good size for stainless steel chimney pipe.

I thought this was a simple task that took less time than it should have
5/5

I'm a 62-year-old man who suffers from chronic back pain, and there was no way I could climb up onto our roof. I discovered this product after conducting an internet search and was initially skeptical, but after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. Our chimney is 30 feet tall, and the kit only came with enough rods to reach 18 feet. Purchasing a second kit was less expensive than purchasing just the extra rods, and I also received a spare brush and drill tool. br>While sitting in a small wooden chair, I connected the brush to the first rod and began shoving them up the chimney. I was able to bend just enough to force the brush up and down the chimney as I added more rods to reach the top and then re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re As I began to remove the rods, I cleaned once more. I slowed down as I approached a cluttered area to allow the crud to fall more slowly. My wife was attempting to remove some of the debris with the shop vac hose positioned in the fire box. Surprisingly, I thought this was a simple job that took less time than climbing up on the roof with a ladder. br>For ease of use, cost-effectiveness, ingenuity, and durability, I give this product a very high rating. We cleaned the rods and put them back into the boxes for our next cleaning. br>At no point did I think any of the rods were going to crack, nor did I have any negative issues. br> Given that we will only use this fireplace for 20 to 30 evenings per year, I believe that cleaning the chimney once a year will suffice; however, this is just my opinion. br>These days, my wife and I spend our winter evenings in our warm and cozy living room.

positive, and I've used it a number of times with excellent results, and I highly recommend it
3/5

My previous experience with this product was extremely positive, and I have used it numerous times with excellent results and would strongly recommend it. The new set I bought, on the other hand, is defective, and I broke two rods in a single chimney cleaning, using the same method and drill as before! I'm hoping this is just a single bad batch of product. and not a switch to a less-than-stellar brand.

The story is told through the images
5/5

This product accomplishes its goal - I've included two photos, one taken before and one taken after I cleaned my factory fireplace chimney. Which is which should be fairly obvious. I hadn't had a cleaning service come out to my house in a few years. I ordered this item and did it myself instead of paying $175 for another cleaning and inspection. br>br>It took about an hour to complete the inspection, prep, chimney cleaning, and post-cleaning cleaning (that's not a typo; be prepared to remove a lot of soot from your firebox and clean up surrounding areas, even when closing off your firebox with plastic sheeting as per the manual). The device was used for a total of ten minutes. It will take 15 minutes. When connected to a battery, it's extremely effective. As instructed in the manual, use a power drill. Before I started, I trimmed the cleaning head bristles according to the instructions - Unless you have a very wide or rectangular chimney flue, I wouldn't recommend skipping this step. br>br>This item has only one complaint: It has six 3-inch diameter holes. Foot extension rod sections provide an overall reach of 18 feet. I'm in a one-on-one relationship with my significant other. I live in a three-story house, and that wasn't nearly enough to clean the entire length of my chimney. I had planned ahead of time and had placed an order for the two-bedroom apartment. Extra rods are available from Amazon, but I believe the manufacturer should include eight sections instead of six, as 18 feet is too short for all but the tiniest of chimneys.

Cleaning a chimney in this manner is the only way to do so
5/5

This is a fantastic product; I was considering getting a brush until I realized how useful this device could be. For the past four years of spring and fall use, our cottage's chimney had not been cleaned. With a steep roof and over 20 feet between the stove and the chimney cap, getting on the roof was not an option. When I opened up the pipe about 6 feet above the stove, I noticed a flaky build up of creosote that was prime for a fire. From where I took the pipe apart, it was about 17 feet to the chimney cap on the roof, so the 18 feet of rods was perfect. Some water was leaking around the rod, but it was contained by a tarp on the floor. Everything went smoothly, and the pipe was spotless when we were finished. I cleaned the lower pipe outside and photographed the before and after results. Following the cleaning, I snapped a photo of the 17-foot pipe. This product is excellent, but there is one caveat that I would like to point out. My wife noticed some black dust on the carpet and tables after everything had been put back together. The vacuum's filter was apparently too coarse to catch all of the very fine soot, and it ended up all over the place. This is not the device's fault, and next time I'll attach a longer hose to the vacuum and place it outside; the pipe is clean from top to bottom, and I never had to climb onto the roof. I wish I had invented this product because I cannot say enough good things about it. My only request to the manufacturer is that extra rods be made available in case the pipe extends beyond 18 feet.

HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY HOLY I've never cleaned the chimney in the six years I've owned my house because we only burn on weekends
5/5

Over the years, we've burned a lot of green/wet wood, and I noticed some glazed creosote when I removed the insert plates a month ago. So, naturally, I became concerned about chimney fires and everything else, and I turned to YouTube, where I discovered this product, which seemed too good to be true, given that I was considering renting a lift and purchasing a new brush due to my roof's steepness. As a result, seeing this product and knowing that I could work my way up from the bottom seemed like a dream come true. I did some more research and decided to go ahead and buy it. br>br>It arrived two days later, and I immediately set it up and began snaking it up my flue. The thing worked like a charm; all I had to do was keep a firm grip on the drill, and it barely fought back. Every 5 seconds or so, I came to a halt to listen to the lovely sound of garbage falling. Overall, it took me less than an hour to complete the task and return all of the rods and pieces to the pro final box. Without a doubt, it is user-friendly!.
