Not very. This is a big piece of meat, and I don't think it was designed to withstand 90 degrees. Maybe if there was a big enough space, but it's not like dryer vent material.
The liner does not require internal support, but it does require support at the top of the flue, so I had a sheet metal shop cut a piece of heavy galvanized steel. Cut a 61/4 " hole in the center of a tin sheet the size of the top of the chimney, drop the liner down the flue, run it up through the tin sheet, secure the flue cap with two clamps, and then take two asprin. Please send me $50 in the mail. 00, best of luck
The tube that we use to install our woodstove insert is much smaller than the chimney. I believe we used Roxul to insulate the top couple feet of the stove pipe, the bottom foot, and the entire insert. It is a fire-resistant stone-based insulation.

As a result, the cap may become loose during use as the chimney heats up and cools down. It's physically attached to the liner, so it won't blow away, but it will expose the area between the chimney and the liner to drafts and the elements. There are much better caps on the market that have screws that tighten against the sides of the chimney (much like a regular chimney cap, but with a liner connection built in). These caps are much better than the one that comes with the kit, which is quite flimsy. However, the money saved on the liner alone is reason enough to purchase this kit! In fact, the liner is thicker than industry standards (0. Instead of 0, use 06". 05"), which makes it a little more difficult to uncoil and work with, but I believe the extra durability is worth the effort. Overall, it's a fantastic product that gets the job done! IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you get the 1/2" insulation that wraps around this pipe if you're using this liner for a fireplace insert and your chimney is on the outside of your house!! You'll be sorry you didn't use it, and you'll have to deal with a lot of creosote buildup in the liner!.
00 to return the wrong size, plus the "restocking" fee, of course. The product was simple to install once we ordered the correct size. It's too hot to test the product right now, so I'll wait until the fall to post an update.
Everything is of good quality, and it was relatively simple to put together. The only issues I had were figuring out how everything fit together and then having to square up the 8-inch tube by cutting the end off. Both issues were minor, and the liner was long enough (over 20 feet) that trimming a few inches was not an issue. If you're doing this, you might want to add a foot or so to your required length for this squaring up because both of my ends were at a fairly sharp angle. This kit was one of the most affordable I could find at the quality level I desired, and I'm pleased with it.
The damper area is difficult to navigate. To get the pipe down the chimney and past the damper area, I used a plasma torch and had to cut a LOT of material out. br>br>In addition, I had to work around an offset top liner brick in my chimney, which reduced the available cross section to slightly less than the pipe OD. I was able to "screw" the pipe down the chimney and it stayed in place. It worked flawlessly for us throughout the winter.
I recommend inspecting your chimney and removing any extruded cement from between the flue joints; a 30 foot run from above can be difficult if chunks of cement catch the lip. To help with pulling from below, tie a piece of 660 cord to the end of the liner.
I gave it four stars because, despite the pipe's excellent quality, it is excessively thick. Turning through the angle at the damper area in the fireplace is extremely difficult. I didn't use the chimney cap. It was a bit of a bargain. I made use of one that I already had. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with the pipe kit that isn't as thick as this one because it'll be easier to work with.
As a result, I no longer require a chimney because I installed a high-efficiency gas burner. It was extremely difficult to return the item because the seller made it so difficult. I was forced to pay for the return shipping despite the fact that the website advertised free shipping. I suggest that you buy from a different company.
After they cleaned it, they basically told me it was dangerous to use and that I was lucky I didn't burn down my house while sleeping inside, so I decided the cheapest and easiest way to fix it was to get a wood stove insert and use this chimney liner kit to save myself from a fiery death. I had to smush the tube about an inch along one side to get it to fit down the chimney after installing the insulation kit, but after that it was a piece of cake. I'd advise you to take your measurements very carefully. I had it in my head that this was for a 1 - I built a two-story house, but I ran out of space by about a foot and had to purchase an extension. I'm not sure if it's because my chimney is taller than most or what, but that's why I gave it four stars instead of five. The seller, on the other hand, was fantastic, and I contacted them twice for assistance. Wear gloves or you'll cut the ba- You need to get Jesus out of your system.
