"Best used within 60 months of Manufacture Date" (so 5 years) is how mine says it should be used. Both of mine were given to me by Man. 6/6/2016 is the date. So, at the very least, until June 2022, I'm good! Nice!
When you remove the stick, it resembles a large match. Remove the cap with the strike surface from the strike surface. It lights up like a large sparkler when you strike the cap against the stick's tip. Then place it next to the fire in the fireplace or wood stove, where it suffocates the fire by depleting its oxygen supply and cools the flue. They also have some excellent short videos on YouTube that can be of assistance. This past winter, we had to use one of these suppressants, and I am SO THANKFUL that this product is now available!
Although I am not an expert in this field, I believe it was designed specifically for chimneys.
The suppression flare itself says it's best if used by July 2015, but there's no expiration date on the box. I bought mine about a year ago, so it's possible that the best-before date is about two years after the date of manufacture. Personally, I don't see why it wouldn't work for many years after the best-before date has passed. I'm not planning on burning mine up next year, but maybe three or four years from now. To be honest, I'm hoping I never have to use my chimney or have a fire in it. Happy Holidays, and I hope this information was useful.

I always have two on hand just in case. When the neighbor's amish boy arrived with word that their house was on fire, I jumped in the truck with my two fire extinguishers and two chimfex sticks. (As I snatched them up, I dialed 911. ) When they arrived, they discovered their chimney completely engulfed in flames. I dashed inside and tossed one of these into each of the open stoves. (It's a good thing I got two of them. ) )br>br>It appeared to work exceptionally well. )br>br> The flames quickly died out and did not spread to the rest of the house. Only one suggestion. br>br> Before you put it to use, read the instructions. The way you get them going is a little strange. As I dashed inside, I was reading the directions, which was not good. br>br>In a nutshell, these could have saved my neighbors' home. To replace them, I'll place another order.
This is essential for anyone who heats their home with a stove. That's fine. Before you put it to use, make sure you read the instructions. br>br>Most importantly, similar products can be found for $15 or less at your neighborhood hardware store.
When we were building our house, I learned about Chimfex from a salesman at the store where I purchased my fireplace. I purchased one and kept it close to the fireplace. More than two decades have passed since that time. We had a chimney fire last year, and when I ran outside, I saw flames shooting out of the top of the chimney. I went inside, told my wife to get the dogs out and call 911, and took the Chimfex with me. It catches you off guard, like a flare on the side of the road. It took three strikes for me to get it to burn. I put it in the fireplace and went outside to spray water on my roof. In about 45 seconds, the fire was out. About ten minutes later, firefighters arrived. They were taken aback when they discovered there was no fire, as they had never heard of Chimfex before. They would have cut a couple of holes in my roof and poured water down into my house if the fire had continued. Thanks to Chimfex, my house was completely unaffected (except for the fact that my chimney cap may not have lasted as long as it should have, as it was glowing red during the fire). Buy a fireplace if you don't have one already.
For the past 25 winters, I've spent my time cleaning our chimney by climbing a ladder and across the roof. No more walking across an icy roof, I told my husband, once you can't see your feet because of your big belly! Haha! We came across this on YouTube and decided to give it a shot! Unbelievable outcomes! It's not even necessary to use your drill to complete the task. It does a fantastic job just running it up and down the stove and up and down the flue by hand; a battery drill is recommended, but we used our electric drill, doing short gentle bursts. After that, we examined the pipe with a hand mirror and found it to be spotless! Our children no longer have to be concerned about their crazed elderly parents falling off the roof and drowning in a snowdrift! I strongly advise you to try it!.
I sent it because there's no way to tell if you have a chimney fire unless you're standing outside and looking at it. Apparently, you don't realize you have a fire until your neighbors arrive and inform you that your roof is on fire, by which time it's too late.
We keep it near the wood stove in case we need it. Clear and concise instructions; I know people who have used it and give it a thumbs up. I would buy from this seller again in a heartbeat.
This extinguishes a blaze in your stove. It's reassuring to know you have one of these on hand in case a chimney fire breaks out, and you don't have to worry about flooding your home with water to put out the fire.
- Aside from this must-have back-up plan, the best fire prevention A temperature gauge/thermometer (shown above) is a device that you can attach to your stove. Keep an eye on the temperature as it rises to the point where you require it, and then take control.
