Is the grinder's base heavy and sturdy, or does it feel light and flimsy?

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding. As you put it, the foundation is firm and sturdy. 65 pounds of venison were just ground. I made a total of 23 pounds of sausage.

Is the grinder's gear set made of plastic or steel?

Steel is used to construct the gears. Plastic is only used for the sausges and kibbeh attachments.

Because of an overload during use, the power does not come back on after the motor stops. So, what should I do now?

Allow 30-45 minutes if the unit was turned off due to overload. Allow 45 minutes for the unit to cool before using it again.

Is this unit capable of grinding beef liver?

Yes. All of the meats I prepare are ground.

MY GRASS FED BEEF WAS CONTAMINATED

I took it out of the box, gave it a thorough cleaning with hot soapy water, and put it to use. I ground up 8 pounds of meat. grass-fed beef fat (expensive and difficult to come by). While grinding the last couple pounds of meat, I noticed a strange odor (like burning plastic), which made me a little concerned. The most serious issue arose after I finished grinding and inspected the meat. The meat had a metallic taste to it, which I noticed. It's a greasy metallic substance that rubbed off on my fingers when I touched the meat, as you can see from my photos. The grinder was clearly the source of this. So, in a nutshell, this grinder ruined all of my high-end grass-fed beef. I'm enraged and dissatisfied to the point of indignation. Especially since I recently visited Amazon and carefully read the product reviews. This issue has been reported by a number of people in the past, and it has clearly not been resolved.

The grinder does its job well, but metal fragments remain in the meat. It was used twice, with the same story each time. I've attached some photos to show you where the metal pieces come from. The meat was rendered inedible as a result of the contamination. The grinder must be returned to me.

Finally, I read through each model's one-star reviews. br>br>This is where it usually gets interesting, because most negative reviews are the result of the purchaser either not reading the user manual or choosing to ignore the instructions/warnings it describes, or claiming poor performance when expecting the appliance to perform a task it wasn't advertised to do - or conceived - to put on an act br>br>Then, when the appliance falls short of their expectations, produces poor results, or breaks - They point the finger at the appliance and leave a bad review. br>br>The majority of the one-star reviews for the Gourmia GMG525 Meat Grinder bear this out. br>br>The Gourmia GMG525 Meat Grinder is intended for occasional use in the home. You'll need a grinder with a stronger motor than the Gourmia GMG525 if you need to grind hundreds of pounds of meat per year or tens of pounds of meat at a time. (Yes, I am aware that the Gourmia GMG525 is advertised as "professional grade. ") Let's just chalk it up to some marketing/advertising hyperbole and move on, shall we? You won't find a Gourmia GMG525 in your neighborhood butcher's back room). br>br>However, if you're buying a grinder to grind a few pounds of meat at a time, AND if you're willing to follow a few basic guidelines (which apply to all light-weight grinders), you'll be fine. You should be happy with the Gourmia GMG525's performance if you're looking for a heavy-duty home meat grinder. br>br>A meat grinder, the Gourmia GMG525 Grounding is not recommended for foods other than meat. They should be chopped (by hand, in a food processor, or with a chopper). This isn't the appliance to use if you need to process anything other than meat. It is not the fault of the unit if you try to grind foods other than meat and have poor results (food does not grind properly and/or the unit or any of its individual parts breaks). br>br>To ensure satisfactory performance with the Gourmia GMG525, follow these basic guidelines: 1) br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b Meat for grinding should be cut into strips no larger than 1/2" X 1/2" X 4" (to be fed lengthwise into the feed tube) or 1" cubes. According to the user manual and recipe booklet, this is the case. br>br>2) Trim all cartilage, sinew, and silverskin from the meat before grinding. Cartilage, sinew, and silverskin can clog the cutting plate and/or clog the feed screw. The cutting blade may break as a result of this. Furthermore, attempting to use the grinder while it is jammed can cause the motor to overheat and/or burn out. 3) br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br After trimming and cutting the meat to the proper size, the grinder's documentation recommends freezing the pieces for *45 minutes to 1 hour* before grinding, and goes on to explain: br>br>"You want the meat to be cold and solid, with ice forming on the outside but not completely frozen," says the chef. After you've finished grinding the meat, don't let it dry out. br>br>With the exception of the backside of the cutting plate, there should be very few meat particles stuck in the parts if the meat you ground was sufficiently frozen according to the instructions in the unit's documentation. br>br>I've found that running COLD water through the head tube, feed screw, cutting blade, and cutting plate flushes out any remaining small meat particles. The use of hot water softens the meat and melts the fat, making it more difficult to remove. br>br>After flushing out any visible meat particles with COLD water, I clean each of the pieces listed above, as well as the hopper plate and food pusher, with hot water and a few drops of antibacterial dish soap and a sponge. The parts are then rinsed and dried with hot water. It should take no more than 10 minutes to disassemble the unit, flush the system, wash, rinse, and dry the parts. br>br>So far, I've used my Gourmia GMG525 to grind several pounds of boneless/skinless chicken breasts and thighs for ground beef, as well as several pounds of beef chuck and beef boneless short ribs. br>br>5 stars for both the final results!.
